Description
Flint Hills Resources, LLC (http://www.fhr.com/) operates oil refineries, chemical plants and renewable facilities across North America. Our Joliet, IL chemical plant is hiring a Health and Safety Manager to be a part of our Leadership Team. Our chemical plant is poised for growth due to expansions on site. Flint Hills is part of Koch Industries (http://www.kochind.com/), a global leader in a number of industrial markets with a presence in 60 countries and over 80,000 employees. The opportunities are endless. Joliet is located about 40 minutes southwest of Chicago which is one of the fastest growing cities in Illinois.

Position Overview:
As the Health and Safety Manager, you will support and promote the continued growth of an effective safety culture overseeing Safety, Medical, Industrial Hygiene and Security on site. You will drive the site in sustaining, improving and aligning standards, procedures and processes. This position owns all Health and Safety related programs, including Process Safety Management for this site.
Requirements:
- A minimum of 8 years industry related experience in health and safety management
- A minimum of 3 years supervisory experience
- Demonstrated experience in the development and implementation of general safety programs
- Strong communication, leadership and collaboration skills
- Strong knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM)
- Experience in facilitating incident investigations
- Experience in communicating complex safety concepts to plant personnel
- Experience in leading and/or participating on safety and health related audit teams
- Experience in analyzing technical and regulatory information
- Bachelors degree in Engineering or Safety field

Other Considerations:
- Physical ability to work around and on industrial equipment, including frequent climbing of stairs and ladders
- Willingness to work around dust, chemicals, and other substances
- Ability to wear personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in designated areas (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, full face respirator, heeled boots and hearing protection)
This role is subject to the Transportation Workers Identification Credentialing rule or "TWIC" and requires the successful candidate to obtain a TWIC identification badge, allowing for unescorted access to the facility within a specific time period
