Description

Koch Nitrogen Company, LLC owns and operates facilities in Oklahoma, Iowa, Kansas and Nebraska that produce anhydrous ammonia, UAN and urea. Koch Fertilizer Canada, ULC, operates a production facility in Brandon, Manitoba, that produces anhydrous ammonia, ammonium nitrate, UAN and urea. In addition, Koch Fertilizer, LLC owns storage and terminal assets in northwest Europe with trading offices in Switzerland, France and United Kingdom.

Koch Nitrogen Company, LLC is looking for a Process Controls Engineer to join our Engineering group in Beatrice, NE. The successful candidate will become a key member of the operating team and will be charged with ongoing process controls optimization and maximizing opportunity capture with the automation systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work with the project team and contractors to specify and install systems
  • DCS, SIS, and HMI programming
  • Instrument, control equipment, and analyzer specification
  • Implementation of Control strategies
  • Simulation system development
  • Develop and apply strategies to optimize on-going operations using the automation platform and in conjunction with the operating and engineering staff at sites
  • Documentation of systems
  • Troubleshoot and develop repair strategies for new and existing plant controls equipment and field devices
  • Facilitate site implementation and execution of reliability programs for plant process controls equipment
  • Provide consultation to facilities and ad-hoc projects on process controls equipment procurement and applications
  • Manage other smaller ad-hoc project controls equipment
Physical requirements:
  • Inspections will include utilizing ladders and platforms in excess of 100 feet and the capability to utilize all required personal protective equipment

Requirements:

  • Must be able to support plants which are in continuous operation
  • 2+ years of experience in the chemical process industry in a process/process controls engineering role or instrument engineering role
  • Knowledge of typical process industry standards and codes (ISA, IEC, etc.)
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication skills (written & verbal)
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Organizational skills ability to prioritize opportunities
  • Able to identify needs and opportunities and work independently to achieve goals
  • Able to work independently at remote sites collaboratively with plant personnel
  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution
Preferred:
  • Experience in fertilizer industry with NH3, Urea, UAN and Nitric Acid manufacturing processes
  • Experience with the design and implementation of DCS and SIS control systems in chemical process facilities
  • Experience in the specification and installation of typical CPI plant instrumentation
  • Experience in capital project development and execution
