Description Key Responsibilities: Fixed equipment inspections per API 510, 570 and 653 in compliance with required inspection schedules Analysis of field data and development and tracking of formal recommendations Turnaround work scope development, and management of inspection activities during turnaround Maintaining equipment records Managing equipment inspection methods/strategies Assisting in the root cause failure analysis process Responsibility for code and regulatory compliance Assist with supervision of contract inspection personnel as requested Interface with Technical Group as needed for inspection related activities. Back fill for Chief Inspector as needed.
Requirements (years of experience, education, etc.): High School diploma or equivalent Certifications in API 510 or API 570 or API 653 Strong verbal and written communication skills Ability to work in a collaborative team environment Ability to obtain TWIC card within 6 months of employment Ability to obtain API 510, API 570 and API 653 certification within two years of employment
Preferred Work Experience and Skills: A minimum of 5 years experience working as an inspector in a refinery or chemical facility environment Certifications in API 653, in addition to API 510 and API 570. Background in refinery or chemical processes, corrosion analysis, data interpretation, metallurgy, NDT techniques, damage mechanisms and welding. Knowledge of UltraPipe or Meridium Inspection Manager, and API RBI software. Preferred certifications would be passing the NBIC exam and to hold current CWI certification. Bachelors Degree, or a 2 year Associates Degree for Inspection.
Physical Demands and/or Unusual Working Conditions This position requires an individual to have the ability to negotiate in, on and around piping at both grade level and above grade elevations. Requires the ability to navigate vertical ladders and spiral tank stairs to reach work areas. This position, on occasion, requires the supervision of activities in confined spaces and requires the ability to enter some spaces through 24" diameter manways. Position requires, on occasion, the physical ability to utilize respirators and SCBA. A tolerance for scents common to fuels and asphalt loading operations is required as well as those of construction and maintenance related activities such as welding, painting and tank cleaning.
