Flint Hills Resources is looking for a Junior Grain Merchandiser to join our team at our Arthur, IA ethanol plant.

Two Grain Merchandisers share responsibilities at the Arthur facility collaborating with each other and the merchandising teams at Flint Hills Resources ethanol plants in Fairbank, Menlo, Shell Rock, Iowa Falls & Fairmont. The group works together to understand the local and global markets, and develop efficient innovations for purchasing a combined annual total of about 195 million bushels of Iowa corn.

As part of the site leadership team, the Arthur Grain Merchandisers work directly with local farmers and plant operations members to strengthen business relationships and opportunities for growth.

As a Grain Merchandiser, you will play a key role in the development, communication, and execution of priorities and strategies for the Arthur ethanol plant. In addition you will:

  • Collaborate with all FHR`s grain merchandisers on a daily basis to understand and communicate market values
  • Establish long-term relationships with your customers by developing an understanding of their business and what they value through face to face meetings
  • Understand both truck and rail freight spreads and impact on market basis values
  • Capability to consolidate global and local market drivers into a Point of View and executable purchasing strategy for the Arthur plant
  • Develop sound market knowledge and implement processes to grow commercial merchandising strategies and support plant initiatives
  • Drive for continuous improvement as you manage the inbound logistics of the facility
  • Be an integral part of the plant leadership team, assisting in the growth and success of the Arthur ethanol plant
  • Help to drive base business and innovation through organizational and Site Leadership team activities
  • Learn risk management processes and strategies
  • Gain practical experience and develop your skills necessary for career growth opportunities within our organization

Requirements:

  • 0-2 years of experience in grain merchandising, grain purchasing, or similar applicable experience
  • Bachelor`s degree from an accredited college or university
  • Willingness to travel 20%-30% of the time

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Grain, Ethanol and DDG industry knowledge
  • Bachelor`s degree in Agriculture Business, Agriculture Economics or Finance, Business Administration or Marketing, with an emphasis in Agriculture
