Description
Flint Hills Resources Pine Bend Refinery in Rosemount, Minn., is among the top processors of Canadian crude in the United States and a leader in providing cleaner-burning and high-performance fuels. The refinery produces fuels such as gasoline, diesel, propane and butane, used throughout Minnesota and the Upper Midwest. It supplies much of the jet fuel used at the Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport. The refinery, which celebrated 50 years of operation in 2005, also manufactures asphalt, heating fuels, and sulfur for fertilizers.
As Fire Captain/Safety Officer you will be responsible for providing on-shift emergency response and industrial hygiene activities to ensure the health and safety of production personnel. Major responsibilities include conducting assessments on high-risk jobs to identify hazards, providing safety training, assisting with drills, and safe work audits. You will be accountable for all aspects of the sites safe work practices (i.e. confined space, energy control and isolation, safe work permitting, etc.), as well as the person to go to for competency in the selection and operation of emergency response equipment. You will be called upon to assist with monitoring, safe work permitting, wet bulb testing, inert entries and calibration testing. In this position you will be required to work 12-hour rotating shifts (four-week rotation) which includes nights, holidays and weekends.
This role is not eligible for Visa sponsorship.
WORK EXPERIENCE & SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Two to three years experience in an Emergency Response and Safety operation in a manufacturing facility.
- Knowledge of emergency response actions and equipment.
- A valid drivers license is required.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Must pass physical agility evaluation.
WORK EXPERIENCE & SKILLS PREFERRED:
- Experience auditing behaviors and conditions to assess hazards and minimize risks.
- Proficiency with Windows based operating systems. (Work, Excel, and Outlook). Associates degree in safety related field or equivalent work experience.
- Strong Incident Command Skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- State Firefighter certification.
- Medical First Responder certification.
EDUCATION REQUIRED:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
EDUCATION PREFERRED:
- Associates degree in safety related field or equivalent work experience.
