POSITION TITLE:
Mechanical Engineer

REPORTS TO:
Manager of Engineering and Product Development
POSITION PURPOSE/MISSION:
Perform engineering assignments including examining and analyzing new and existing product, designing
modifications, preparing cost estimates, quotations and related data. Assist with recommending
manufacturing processes, equipment, design of fixtures and tooling for new product.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
1) Design and develop products consistent with strategic initiatives.
a) Establish project parameters and timelines.
b) Create drawings directly or through Design Drafters.
c) Assist with manufacturing processes.
d) Provide direction to design drafters and manufacturing.
e) Coordinate the construction and testing of prototype parts.
f) Support Sales group with quote preparation or with cost reduction initiatives.
2) Recognize and recommend product enhancements.
3) Conduct field research in the area of new and existing product opportunities.
4) Prepare progress reports and evaluations regarding projects and products.
5) Assist in the development of peripherals such as tooling, fixtures, and process controls.
6) Timely and accurate cost analysis on new projects.
7) Promote support between company departments
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Technical Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering
Three or more years of engineering experience.
Detailed knowledge of drawing techniques and standards.
Understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing techniques.
3D solid modeling experience (preferably in Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks or ProE).
Experience in a manufacturing environment.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Preferred Technical Qualifications:
New product introduction and current product improvement experience.
Cost estimation and quote development experience.
Experience with Lean Six Sigma tools, preferably Green Belt Certified.
