Director of Information Technology
Job Location: Manhattan, Kansas
Supervisor:
Vice President for Finance and Administration/CFO
Description:
Responsible for the overall planning, organization, and execution of all Information Technology functions at the KSU Foundation. This includes directing all IT operations to meet customer needs (Foundation staff, university personnel, donors) as well as the support and maintenance of existing applications and development of new technical solutions.
Essential Functions:
Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the mission of the KSU Foundation as it relates to the educational, research and service goals of the University with the ability to communicate the institution's needs and priorities - both internally and externally.
Establish and nurture effective, collegial working relationships with foundation coworkers, university partners, and donors.
Promote and demonstrate respect, collaboration, and friendly customer service in all working relationships.
Participate actively and cooperatively on all assigned committees and task forces.
Provide leadership and management of the department through coaching, empowering and facilitating employees working in a team environment. Recommend education programs for IT staff to encourage staff growth and professional development.
Conceptualize, evaluate and implement information technology strategies, plans and priorities for a comprehensive IT program supporting critical business solutions and customer demands.
Recommend long-range and short-range information systems and methodologies to the VP by being thoroughly familiar with rapid changes in the information technology environment and tailoring those technologies to the needs of the foundation.
Direct the development and implementation of policies, regulations and programs that support the coordination and growth of progressive, efficient and cost-effective information services. Analyze the impact of federal, state and local laws, regulations, and procedures on the programs.
Direct the development of budget recommendations including equipment and supplies, capital expenditures and personnel services and continually evaluate the cost benefit of technology.
Improve and maintain an effective disaster recovery plan.
Participate in all hardware and software evaluations and maintain vendor contracts to ensure compliance with operating performance standards.
Responsible for foundation-wide management and administration of end-user training needs for appropriate hardware and software applications. Perform liaison duties between foundation users, Kansas State University, and IT personnel in the areas of systems design, modifications or trouble shooting. Perform other related duties as required.
Education:
Minimum of a bachelor's degree in computer science, management information systems or related field.
Experience:
A minimum of five years experience in technical fields. A minimum of five years of supervisory experience. Experience in database and network technology and database reporting tools preferred.
Skills:
Program management skills including the management of both personnel and other resources in a computer or systems related area. Technical skills in data integration and analysis as well as network administration, hardware and software support. Ability to meet deadlines. Detail oriented with strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences. Confidentiality is important in this position.
