The Senior Lending Officer (SLO), under the direction of the President, is responsible for managing the overall credit risk of our consumer and commercial loan portfolios. Management of these portfolios includes approving and monitoring loans to insure credit quality, promoting our credit culture and philosophy and adherence to required regulatory guidance.  The SLO will also lead Los Alamos National Bank in maximizing our portfolio growth through effective planning, development and implementation of our lending strategies.

 

The Senior Lending Officer will provide leadership to staff for credit and lending philosophy, loan risk management, adherence to lending policy and the assurance of adequate internal controls including the monitoring of credit activities and trends.

 

The Senior Lending Officer will serve new and existing commercial loan customers with superior customer service combined with a thorough knowledge of the products available while following our internal lending policies.  The SLO will be expected to develop and maintain strong working relationships and cultivate a profitable customer base and clientele. 

 

Essential Job Duties:

         Develop and maintain strong working relationships with our staff and customers

         Provide staff leadership which motivates and clearly directs work responsibilities and guides them in prudent lending practices and risk administration

         Lead the loan production staff in the credit approval function and adherence to our credit philosophy and policies 

         Assist in defining the annual department action plans, including budgets and staffing requirements, in compliance with LANBs vision and strategy

         Assist in developing and maintaining lending policies, procedures, and the interest rate and product structures

         Ensure policies and procedures comply with regulatory, compliance and internal guidelines

         Remain educated and informed about industry trends, community developments, market conditions and regulatory requirements and their effect on the Banks lending business.

         Make credit decisions consistent with LANBs guidelines and policies.

         Participate in the Internal Loan Committee and Board Loan Committee meetings

         Perform scheduled reviews of credits to enhance the early detection of weaknesses and LANBs ability to mitigate losses as necessary

         Maintain a professional and productive relationship with Regulatory Agencies

 

Skills and Requirements:

         Excellent customer service skills

         12  years prior Commercial Lending experience is required

         Bachelors degree (B.A.) or equivalent work experience required

         Strong leadership skills

         In-depth knowledge of lending and credit risk, collateral valuations and documentation requirements

         Strong knowledge of regulatory guidelines, federal and state laws and regulations

         Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to deal professionally and effectively with customers, staff, senior leadership, regulators and the board of directors

         Excellent analytical skills and the ability to make appropriate credit decisions based on LANBs lending policies

         Knowledge of and the ability to use current technology proficiently, including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Work and Excel) and other technology based tools

         Effective time management and the ability to work independently and productively in a high volume and fast paced environment
