The Portfolio Manager assists the Loan Officer by managing the work-flow in all aspects of lending.  The Portfolio Manager should have a basic understanding of principle practices and regulations relating to lending.  The Portfolio Manager will be expected to work with the Loan Officer to develop and maintain strong working relationships and cultivate a profitable customer base.  The Portfolio Manager will serve new and existing commercial loan customers with superior customer service combined with a thorough knowledge of the products available and internal lending policies.  The Portfolio Manager will assist customers with issues related to their loan request including questions regarding their documents and closing dates.

 

Essential Job Duties:

  Provide assistance and information to customers and Loan Officer; assist Loan Officer as needed

  Order all documentation necessary to complete a loan package

  Coordinate documentation while being aware of potential problems such as poor credit, inadequate funds to close, and insufficient income.

  Review, understand and communicate issues within loan files to the Loan Officer for accuracy and correction of errors.

  Review the loan package and schedule loan closing.

  Assist in ensuring that loans meet Loan Policy, have risks identified and mitigated, are structured appropriately and are properly graded.

  Understand and conform to all applicable regulations and laws.

  Maintain a complete and thorough understanding of Loan Policy, including all loan guidelines and exceptions.

  Remain educated and informed of industry trends, community developments and market conditions and their effect on the Banks lending business.

  Learn to analyze loan applications and make initial recommendations on loan structure for customers loan request.

  Learn to make credit decisions consistent with LANB guidelines and policies.

  Provide guidance to Loan Processors to ensure loan packages are processed and closed with a high level of accuracy and efficiency. 

  Work together with the loan team and Collections Department on possible past due credits and assist Loan Officer in Action Plans and workouts for classified credits.

  Develop and maintain strong working relationships with our customers.

  3 years of banking experience highly preferred (Commercial loan processing experience in particular will be highly favorable)

  Experience and use of Financial Analysis software is preferred

 

Skills and Requirements:

  Excellent customer service skills

  Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to deal professionally with customers and employees

  Excellent analytical skills and the knowledge needed to make appropriate credit decisions and sound recommendations for loan applicants

  Knowledge of, and the ability to use, current technology and software proficiently,  including a personal computer, Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word and Excel) and other technology based tools

  Excellent organizational skills, a high level of accuracy and strong attention to detail

  Effective time management and the ability to work independently and productively in a high-volume and fast-paced environment

  General knowledge of accounting principles

  Knowledge of regulatory guidelines, federal and state laws and regulations

  Ability to lift 25 lbs

  3 years of banking experience highly preferred (Commercial loan processing experience in particular will be highly favorable)

  Experience and use of Financial Analysis software is preferred
