SUMMARY:
This working supervisory position is responsible for the daily shift to shift activities of the Sterile Processing Department. This position assigns and supervises on their shift all technician task duties to consistently meet departmental goals to provide safe, sterile, instruments and supplies in an efficient accurate, professional manner. Monitors instrument decontamination, tray assembly, sterilization and case cart preparation as well as cleaning of equipment and sterilization equipment for proper function. Validates sterilization records and biological testing. Additional responsibilities include; daily work assignments, providing input for staff performance evaluations, disciplinary actions and competency evaluations as required by manager. Assists instructor with new employee orientation and competency review. This position must evaluate and prioritize workload, assign tasks. Monitors department activity and directly reports to the SPD Coordinator.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
HS diploma or equivalent. CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician).
ESSENTIAL JOB-RELATED EXPERIENCE:
Two (2) years or more of surgical instrument processing & patient care equipment experience. Computer literate, good organizational skills, leadership skills, good communication skills, and prioritizing abilities
PREFERRED JOB-RELATED EXPERIENCE:
Two to four (2-4) years of CRCST/Surgical Instrument Processing experience. One to two (1-2) years of SPD/OR supervisory experience. Two to four (2-4) years Sterile Processing /Central Service experience.
