Program Instructor/ACCE, Physical Therapist Assistant (11 month contract)

Job Location: Cheyenne, WY

Summary:
Laramie County Community College (LCCC) seeks a highly qualified applicant to perform the duties of an instructor and Academic Coordinator/Director of Clinical Education (ACCE/DCE) for a new Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) program for the college. The program curriculum has been designed, approved by the state, and is in the process of being reviewed by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE). The successful applicant will spend the fall of the 2008 year in further development of the clinical education component prior to students being enrolled in January 2009, following CAPTE approval. The program will be housed in a new state-of-the art health sciences building scheduled for completion in December 2008. This position will be supervised by the PTA program director.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Instruct classroom and laboratory sections of the PTA program and other courses to a diverse student population; assist in the development and assessment of clinical education component of the curriculum; coordinate and implement the clinical education component of the curriculum including site placements, site visits, and evaluations; counsel and advise students especially as it relates to clinical education; assess student performance during clinical education; assist with design of curricular materials; work collaboratively as a member of a program team in continuous improvement activities; participate on college committees and teams; and participate in school based community events, professional development and community service.

Minimum Qualifications:
Graduate of an accredited physical therapist or a physical therapist assistant program; Wyoming Physical Therapy license (or ability to attain); three years of full-time clinical practice as a PT or PTA that includes clinical teaching; current knowledge and skill in the use of information and computer technology; knowledge of legislative, regulatory, legal, and practice issues affecting clinical education, student and the profession of physical therapy; able to work independently and coordinate work with colleagues and peers; and able to travel as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor degree or willingness to obtain that degree; community college experience; prior teaching experience in a PTA program; prior college teaching experience; clinical education and neurological specialization background; member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA); and earned status as an APTA Credentialed Clinical Instructor.

Compensation:
Salary placement depends on education and directly related professional clinical experience. Excellent benefits.
