Coordinator, Disability Resource Center
Job Location: Cheyenne, WY
Description:
The Disability Resource Center Coordinator is a full-time 12-month position that reports to the Vice President of Instruction. The DRC Coordinator ensures programmatic and physical accessibility for students with disabilities.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Ensure college-wide compliance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990; review and evaluate documentation for eligibility determination and reasonable accommodations; assess student disability-related needs and determine effective and reasonable accommodations; train and collaborate with faculty and administration in the effective implementation and provision of reasonable accommodations; train, supervise, and evaluate the Interpreter/Program Assistant; collaborate with the Interpreter/Program Assistant for students who are deaf or hard of hearing; provide testing accommodations for students as needed; manage DRC assistive technology program for students; coordinate testing accommodations with Exam Lab Proctor; collaborate with the Director of Human Resources in determination and provision of accommodations for employees with disabilities; serve as consultant and liaison to the college community on disability-related issues; work with instructional designers in modifying on-line classes for students with disabilities; coordinate program development and evaluation; develop, maintain, and communicate departmental policies, procedures, publications and priorities; develop, request, and manage departmental and accommodations budget; provide disability-related counseling and academic advising; maintain complete and accurate information in student files and database; serve on college committees as disability expert and chair the ADA Committee; assist students with disabilities and their families in transitioning from high school to college; participate in ongoing professional development in order to remain current on disability-related legal precedent and technology and to maintain interpreting certification; and perform other job duties as assigned by the Vice President of Instruction and/or College President.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor degree in special education, psychology, counseling or related field and three years of experience in disability services.
Preferred Qualifications:
Masters’ degree in one of the areas listed above; two years of experience in post-secondary disability support services; and work experience with instructional designers in modifying on-line classes for students with disabilities.
Compensation:
Salary depends on education and directly related experience. Excellent benefits.
