Primary Objective:
Applies technical expertise to accomplish results specific to, continuous improvement, event facilitation and manufacturing methods. Must develop the ability to facilitate various CI events. This position will receive assignments from various factory managers in support of various manufacturing environments.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Continuous Improvement - provides technical leadership, as individual contributor, to various continuous improvement efforts including 5s, Kaizen, one-piece flow, kanban, set-up reduction (SMED), line balancing, simulation and various tiger team events.
2. Continuous Improvement Facilitator - develops event facilitation skills necessary to successfully lead cross-functional teams in extensive, multiple day events to achieve event goals and business results. Events include but are not limited to Kaizen, one-piece flow, business process map, value stream map, production planning, concept planning and design planning events.
3. Project Management - plans, organizes, and leads the implementation of assigned projects.
4. Manufacturing Methods - utilizes industrial engineering skills to analyze methods, equipment and flow to identify improvements for quality, throughput, and operational expense. Applies lean manufacturing & JIT principles to accomplish results.
5. Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications and Job Skills:
1. The successful candidate posses a BS degree in Industrial Engineering or BS degree in a related technical field with 2 or more years of experience.
2. Requires working knowledge of lean/JIT manufacturing techniques and a demonstrated ability to get results. Knowledge and experience specific to six-sigma is strongly desired.
3. Demonstrated ability to apply fundamental industrial engineering skills to solve problems (i.e. work sampling, standards development, flow charting, line balancing, plant layout, capacity analysis, space planning, other mathematical analysis).
4. Ability to successfully function in team based environment.
5. Strong verbal and written communication skills are a must.
6. Individual must be able to deal effectively with all levels of management, outside contractors and support personnel.
7. Demonstrated ability to use computer analysis utilizing mathematical analysis, project planning and business planning software.
8. This person must also have demonstrated the ability to manage projects from inception to completion, ensuring that project goals are met.
9. Must be reliably and predictably available to perform the major duties of the position at the assigned work site. Must be able to be ready to perform the job tasks at the specified starting time.
10. This position is required to work in various manufacturing environments located in different buildings with various process environments. Frequent standing, walking, observing, interacting with production employees, support staff, engineers and managers is required. Travel is infrequent.
