Description of Duties/Qualifications
POSITION SUMMARY:

This includes both configuration and customization to Oracle application as well as modification and creation of external applications that extend the function of Oracle apps. Oracle Application Developers will work with functional experts to understand problems with software and develop specifications to resolve them. All specifications and work completed in compliance with statutory requirements for medical device manufacturers.

RESPONSIBILITIES / JOB OVERVIEW:
Oracle Forms 6i
Oracle Forms is a Rapid Application Development (RAD) environment for developing database applications. The language used inside is PL/SQL.

Oracle Forms is able to access the Oracle database and generate a default form that presents the data. The form is compiled into an executable (fmx), that is run by the forms runtime module. (The runtime also known as the forms runtime is one of the nodes in the oracle system.) The form is used to view and edit data in business applications. Various GUI elements, such as buttons, menus, scrollbars, and graphics can be placed on the form.

The environment notably supplies built-in record creation, query, and update modes, each with its own default data manipulations. This eliminates the need to program common and tedious operations, such as creating dynamic SQL, sensing changed fields, and locking rows.

As is normal with event driven interfaces, the software implements a complex algorithm, consisting of special functions called triggers, which occur at critical steps in the processing of records, the receipt of keyboard strokes, and the receipt of mouse movements. Different triggers are called before, during, and after each critical step.
Each function is initially a stub (place holder), containing a default action or nothing. Programming Oracle Forms therefore generally consists of modifying the contents of these triggers in order to alter the default behavior. Some triggers, if provided by the programmer, replace the default action, others augment it.

As a result of this strategy, it is possible to create a number of default form layouts which possess complete database functionality yet contain no programmer-written code at all.

Program development language:
Programming will be performed in the language PL/SQL. Development of oracle is multi-tiered with tasks in procedures that affect data are performed through PL/SQL programs that reside in the database.
The PL/SQL language is similar to ADA and is an augment to the SQL standard with the procedural and recursive functionality of a procedural language and the query ability of a database language.
All ETL will be preformed in PL/SQL to ensure consistency in the development process.

Discoverer
Discoverer is one or oracles reporting tools. It is excel-like in appearance. The tool is not comparable to other tools we currently use for reporting.

There are three versions of the tool:
Viewer (web)
The Viewer Edition is used to view pre-defined reports. Viewer Edition is currently available for the Web only and has no desk top version.

User edition
The User Edition is used by end users to perform ad hoc-query, reporting, analysis and web publishing.

Administration Edition
The Administration Edition is used to create and maintain the "End User Layer" (EUL) which is a metadata layer that hides the complexity of the database from end users. This is where the creation of "books" is completed. These books are the databases that are created for the users to build reports.

Oracle Reports
Oracle Reports is a tool for developing reports against data stored in an Oracle database. Oracle Reports consists of Oracle Reports Developer (a component of the Oracle Developer Suite) and Oracle Application Server Reports Services (a component of the Oracle Application Server). It is similar, but not identical, in functionality to crystal reports.

Oracle Workflow
The rules and workflow of business processes will be changed with the use of oracle administrative tools. Approvals, "hooks", system changes, screen changes, as well as dozens of other functionality changes are accomplished. This is a very labor intensive part of the day-to-day development on the system.

BPEL
External business process management tool. Uses XML for the communication between different processes and systems.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. B.S. degree in Computer Science.
2. Must have 5-7 years experience and an excellent knowledge of SQL, PL/SQL, and developing Internet applications using Form Builder and ASP.Net.
3. Must also have a good working knowledge of each of the following tools: Oracle Forms 6I, Program Development Language, Discoverer, Administration Edition, Oracle Reports, Oracle Workflow and BPEL.
