Description
Our client seeks a HVAC Contracting & DDC Controls Operations Manager. (They complete turnkey mechanical, HVAC, and controls installations, retrofits, and renovation projects). This person is probably living in the Cincinnati area, but Columbus could work too, as the company does business in the Columbus-Cincinnati corridor. The job would entail 1-2 days a week in whichever city the candidate does not live in (two hour drive between the two cities). This division is about $15mil./yr. revenues, looking to get to $ 30 mil. in the next 3-4 years.
This person is (most likely) currently the operations manager at a Johnson Controls, Honeywell, Siemens type company, or a large mechanical contractor, or possibly a regional fulfillment manager for an ESCO. Best background is going to be a mix of Controls Operations mgt. and mechanical contracting ops/management.
Compensation is open, they will evaluate on a candidate-by-candidate basis. There is an opportunity for 30% bonus incentive, based on profit objectives.
Summary:
Functions as Contracting Team Leader. Responsible for the administration, implementation, and management of the contracting fulfillment processes in its goal of operational excellence, support of overall strategic objectives, and accountable for overall project financial results.
Accountabilities:
- Ensures that quality standards are maintained, after an order is closed, for contracting process and functions required for execution and customer satisfaction, including new equipment, existing building services, and building automation.
- Overall contracting responsibility for the following functions within the categories of new equipment, existing building services, and building automation: order validation, order entry, order follow up, customer inquiry, engineering, submittals, service operations, building automation operations, project management, technical support, warranties, claims, and resource allocations.
- Responsible for achieving mission objectives regarding profit and resource goals.
- Monitor, measure, and modify process and process measurements to effectively and efficiently meet customer needs.
- Develops or works with team leaders/coaches to establish required skill sets, talents, and capabilities.
- Interacts with Sales to ensure smooth hand off of projects from the sales process.
- Conducts annual performance appraisals.
- Manages associate performance for effectiveness and efficiency in relation to customer service and center profitability.
- Maintains quality standards by supervising and inspecting job sites.
- Maintains customer satisfaction by investigating concerns, implementing corrective action, and communicating with customers and staff as needed.
- Responsible for internal communications flow relative to the operations process.
- Responsible for keeping abreast of company's products, product design, and requirements for installation as well as working knowledge of HVAC principles.
- Responsible for keeping abreast of external market conditions and internal requirements related to existing building sales, building automation systems and new construction sales.
- Responsible for compliance with internal contracting processes.
- Reviews project measurements and monitors projects through warranty periods.
- Some travel with occasional overnight stays.
- Flexibility to work outside normal work hours/weekends, as required.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Electrical, Industrial, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent; or eight (8) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experienced and knowledgeable in contracting processes associated with the installation of building automation systems and turnkey projects. Knowledgeable of financially guaranteed contracts, Demand Flow Technology, order processing, and HVAC equipment. Familiarity with the operation of energy management systems, HVAC systems, temperature controls, and process control systems.
