Description:
The intern works an average of 10-12 hours per week on communications, marketing, design and public relations projects on behalf of the Military Avenue Business Association (MABA). He/she works with the organization’s staff to develop marketing and communications materials, as well as to assist with implementing marketing-related projects.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Interface with the marketing and membership committees
- Perform updates to the MABA Web site
- Concept marketing ideas, write copy and provide design concepts on behalf of the Military Avenue Business District in accordance with recommendations/direction from the marketing and membership committees, to include flyers, Web site copy, brochure, press releases, article pitches, etc.
- Serving as the newsletter editor for MABA’s newsletter, including determining content, assigning stories, establishing and enforcing deadlines, editing copy, inserting copy/photos/logos into design template, proofreading, etc.
- Event promotion and coordination assistance
Desired Qualifications
- Junior or senior-level student in communications, marketing, public relations, journalism or other related major at an accredited college
- Experience in marketing, communications and public relations, particularly in the areas of news writing, social media marketing, branding, press release creation, Web site updating, etc.
- Excellent organizational skills
- Excellent writing and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of Quark Xpress, Illustrator CS, InDesign, Microsoft Word required; familiarity or experience with Flash Player, Excel and PowerPoint helpful
- Knowledge of Associated Press style
- Ability to work well independently with minimal direction
Position starts Sept. 1 or thereabouts.
