PROGRAM MANAGER FOR SMALL CLAIMS MEDIATION

ORGANIZATION MISSION
The Mediation Center is a primary community resource for creating positive opportunities out of conflict. It is the Center’s purpose to help individuals of all ages and backgrounds resolve conflicts effectively and efficiently with the assistance of professionally-trained volunteer mediators. The Center provides the tools to peacefully and effectively resolve disputes in a manner that creates value and benefit to all parties.
The Mediation Center is a non-profit agency consisting of three part-time employees.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The position of Program Manager for Small Claims Mediation will be scheduled for 25 hours/week, Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursdays, including 2-3 Tuesday evenings/month.
Responsibilities include:
• Participation in the mediation training class provided by the Mediation Center, learn and understand the mediation process, be available to act as a back-up mediator if needed.
• Coordinating and administering the small claims mediation program, including coordination with the Court. This position will be required to pick up orders at Brown County Courthouse and complete filings as necessary.
• Supervising/overseeing the eviction court mediation process every Tuesday afternoon that eviction court is convened (on average 50 weeks/year).
• Scheduling and supervising volunteer mediators; maintaining phone/email contact with volunteers for scheduling purposes; serving as mediator liaison/information resource;
• Reviewing and maintaining records of referred and mediated cases; drafting and sending appointment letters and/or emails to mediation clients; maintaining mediation calendar and ensuring that a mediator is available for all mediations; performing related administrative functions.
• Assisting in drafting of agreements resulting from a mediation session as necessary, including proof-reading and providing analytical review for completeness and clarity.
• Collecting mediation fees from private-pay cases, including cash, credit cards and checks, and maintaining appropriate records and distribution of fees.
• Attend and assist with the organization of mediation training and fundraising events.
• General duties of the position also include answering office phones, completing attendance record for clients and volunteers alike, greeting clients and other similar office duties.
• Position works under general supervision of the Executive Director or other designated manager. Position will have periodic meetings with the Executive Director to discuss and assess work activities.
• All other duties as assigned and consistent with the position.

QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor or Associate degree in related field (e.g., Paralegal) or 2-4 years related work experience preferred.
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office; familiarity with MAC helpful.
