Commissioning Specialist Baltimore, MD

Introduction
Merrick & Company is seeking a Commissioning Specialist to become part of our growing Commissioning team. This position is located in the Baltimore, MD / Greater DC area.
Local candidates preferred.
This is a full-time position.
Job Description
- Oversee, coordinate and perform detailed field commissioning services for all types of facilities, including, laboratories, nuclear spaces, hospitals, computer centers, general office facilities, clean rooms.
- Generate commissioning plans; write commissioning specifications; develop commissioning installation checklists and functional test procedures; verify and validate commissioned systems controls and equipment; document commissioning process, develop final commissioning report, and develop systems manuals.
- Assist in managing the work of commissioning technicians including scheduling, quality control, reporting, estimating, proposal development and coordination of work.
- Frequent travel to project/client locations is required with possible international travel.
Required Experience
- Commissioning of high-tech facilities, in particular bio-containment facilities is preferred.
- Ability to read and understand building drawings, specifications, and submittals
- Commissioning of HVAC systems (air and water side), central plants, plumbing systems, electrical and/or fire protection systems.
- Good organizational and planning skills with the ability to direct a team through the execution of the commissioning process
- Knowledge of controls systems and control sequences.
- Ability to generate accurate detailed reports necessary.
- Must be proficient in the use of computers and Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Power Point).
- Familiarity with AutoCAD is an asset.
- Must be able to work as a member of a close team and be able to work independently as necessary.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with both owners and with contractors as well as the ability to lead project meetings are necessary.
- Must be able to obtain a US security clearance.
- Desired experience includes a background in; HVAC, controls, plumbing, fire protection, electrical and/or power engineer.
Location
Self-starter and independently motivated individual may be located in the Washington DC and Baltimore areas, with frequent access to Aberdeen Proving Grounds, MD
Degree / Experience Requirements
- Minimum two (2) year technical degree with five (5) years experience in commissioning or;
- Ten (10) years related design and/or similar work experience considered
Physical Requirements
- Physically mobile in and around construction sites and facilities
- Able to climb ladders
- Mobile crawling in and around mechanical space with piping and ductwork
- Ability to carry test instruments and equipment
- Lift 50 pounds
