Position Summary

In this position, the Pharmacy Clinical Manager oversees the clinical services provided by the pharmacy department through implementation and evaluation of new and existing clinical pharmacy services, human resource management, competency assessment, education and training, formulary management, quality management, physician collaboration, and organizational effectiveness.**Will oversee newly developed residency program as well as staff growth

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Decision Making
Explores information for decision-making and defines issues clearly despite incomplete or ambiguous information, integrating different ideas and perspectives
Emphasizes long-term versus short term solutions to problems that arise, using a structured problem solving approach to correct the root cause of a problem
Provides necessary resources/cooperation so that innovative solutions can be implemented.Identifies decisions that can be made alone and which need consultation with others and makes timely decisions, minimizing emotional and impulsive decisions and crisis management.
Anticipates potential problems and implements preventive measures before problems occur.
Leadership Communication and Skills
Identifies various constituents and develops appropriate communication approaches, suspending judgment until all points of view are fully explained and understood.
Establishes effective communication channels for all people involved in a given project or activity for maximum accountability and gives specific, constructive and frequent feedback to direct reports.
Encourages and uses positive human resource practices throughout the department, including: mentoring, using performance management techniques - setting objectives, providing feedback, evaluating results, defining roles and responsibilities with direct reports, training and developing staff, using coaching/counseling to improve or sustain performance and making effective hiring, promotion, transfer, disciplinary, and termination decisions
Effectively directs his/her group through change management processes and facilitates groups to achieve desired results reflecting the group`s ideas and input
Business Acumen
Maintains financial accountability for assigned departments; functions within established budget.
Examines alternative methods of providing required services in order to reduce departmental supply and personnel costs.
Combines ethical judgment with technical skills within the policy and legal guidelines of the institution; understands the legal, social, economic and political forces which influence the health care system.
Effectively uses financial information for strategic and operational decision making and participates in the preparation of annual budgets for capital equipment, personnel, supplies, and other departmental costs
Organizational Responsibilities

(Primary Job duties)
Supervision of pharmacy staff including hiring, orientation, training, competency assessment, evaluating, and coaching/disciplinary actionsPharmacy and hospital staff education and developmentDevelopment, provision, and management of pharmacy clinical services in both the inpatient and ambulatory care settingsOversight of the pharmacy residency program serving as Residency Program Director (RPD)Coordination of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee and interacting with physicians, nurses, and other health care professionals to ensure optimal medication therapy for patientsQuality assurance and medication safety oversightEvaluates, monitors and ensures compliance with relevant regulation, standards and lawsAssists the Director of Pharmacy with budget preparation and compliance, achieving productivity targets, strategic planning, monitoring and achievement of department goals, quality management, medication-related policies and procedures, customer service and operational efficiency.
Education, Experience and Licensure/Certification Requirements
Requirements are representative of the minimum level of knowledge, skills and/or abilities necessary to perform the essential functions of the position
1.Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy, Doctor of Pharmacy, or Master of Science in Pharmacy degree from an accredited College of Pharmacy
2.Completion of an ASHP-Accredited Pharmacy Residency Program
3.Current Montana Pharmacist Licensure or eligibility for reciprocity
4.Current BLS certification
5.Minimum of 5 years of recent hospital pharmacy experience with 2 years of pharmacy supervision or management experience
6.Ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically within a multi-functional team
7.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
8.Ability to successfully function in a fast paced, service oriented environment9.Experience in understanding and usage of computers including the ability to learn programs relevant to the position
