Responsible for assisting the Lab Director with employee competencies in daily QC, maintenance, safety and testing procedures; monitoring daily, weekly, and monthly QC for shifts, trends, bias and any other indicators that represent quality result output; coordinating all assay correlations, calibrations, carry-over and dilution studies; as well as all normal range determinations for QC material and patient test ranges for lot changes, new reagents, and updated methodology. Lead Technologist must be able to maintain records in an orderly and efficient manner per CLIA and Joint Commission standards. Lead Technologist must possess in depth knowledge in all generalist disciplines to include: Blood Bank, Chemistry, Hematology, Serology, Urinalysis, Coagulation, Specimen Processing, and familiarity with basic Microbiology processes. Lead Technologist must also perform all duties of a Medical Technologist:duties noted as followed. Performs routine and specialized moderate and high complexity laboratory tests on all types of blood and body fluid specimens under minimal supervision. Insures accurate and reliable test results by adhering to a strict quality control program. Performs and monitors instrument function checks and preventative maintenance procedures according to departments policies and procedures. Evaluates and documents records and statistical data according to regulative requirements. Teaches, mentors and supervises all technical employees and students in laboratory policies and procedures. Collects chain of custody urine drug screens as required. Performs breath alcohol testing as needed. Assists as needed in all laboratory areas as required to maintain appropriate patient care.

Qualifications

Education:

  • High School Dilploma/GED plus successful completion of accredited Laboratory Technician program

Experience/Abilities:

  • 2 years MT experience or 10 years MLT
