Position Description This position which reports to the Provost has an institution wide reach. The Assistant Provost must understand the relationship that data has to program quality, learning outcomes, assessment, decision making and retention. The Assistant Provost must communicate effectively inside the College and assist with outreach into the community. The person selected will think critically, possess excellent organizational skills, and have a minimum of five years experience in higher education administration. Knowledge of statistical, database and spreadsheet software such as SPSS, Microsoft Access, Blackboard, Web Advisor, Excel and Datatel is desired. The demonstrated ability to work effectively with faculty is critical. The person selected must have experience working with students and be capable of promoting more effective interface between faculty and students. Knowledge about accreditation, strategic planning and the development of grant funding programs is desired.
Specific Responsibilities The following duties represent a partial listing of the responsibilities attached to this position.
Will help coordinate the campus response to data surveys and requests from federal and state agencies, accrediting bodies and guidebooks.
Facilitate academic program assessment activities, institutional data collection, data management and course scheduling.
Collaborate with the President, Provost and Dean of Enrollment Services in providing research and analysis to support enrollment management
Forecast, prepare reports and assess operations in the areas of retention, advising, enrollment management, graduation rates, demographics and institutional quality
Facilitate the use of institutional data in College planning and decision making.
Conduct ad hoc data requests from key College decision makers
Facilitate the study, analysis and modeling of best practices for the continuous improvement of the College.
Communicate effectively with the faculty and various offices to coordinate and respond to internal and external information requests and surveys.
Manage multiple projects, set priorities and meet deadlines.
Work effectively with faculty, students, and the Senior Leadership Team.
Provide academic program assessment support to faculty and staff
Develop and implement methods for keeping the College informed about institutional research and data needs
Maintain a current and relevant Faculty Handbook
Assist the Provost in monitoring divisional budgets and in the development of annual budgets.
Act as a liaison between the Office of the Provost and the Office of Finance and Administration regarding issues related to contracts
Monitor the status of faculty contracts
Orient full-time and part-time (adjunct) faculty to College policies and procedures
Facilitate faculty evaluation processes for promotion, rank and tenure.
Facilitate faculty professional development
Interface with the Library on behalf of the Office of the Provost.
Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree from an accredited institution
Five years of experience in higher education administration
Knowledge and proficiency in statistical, database and spreadsheet software.
Experience with accreditation, strategic planning and grant writing
Experience with community outreach
Knowledge of the faculty rank, tenure and promotion process
The ability to work effectively with diverse constituencies
The ability to communicate effectively
