Vacancy Description:
Job Summary: Responsible for providing primary and/or specialty care services, including assessing and managing patients in the clinic following established standards and practices.
Job Responsibilities:
Obtains complete medical history and physical data on patients.
Interprets and integrates data to determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as needed.
Performs a complete physical exam and records findings. Collaborates with physicians in managing acute and long-term medical needs of patients.
Orders appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures.
Synthesizes data to determine preliminary diagnosis and therapeutic plan utilizing principles of prevention.
Administers medications and injections in compliance with state law and clinic guidelines.
Interviews and advises patients regarding health and illness prevention. Recommends community resources to meet patient and family needs.
Instructs patient and family regarding medications and treatment instructions. Provides patient education.
Maintains and reviews patients records, charts and other pertinent information.
Provides support for phone nurse as she triages patient telephone calls as well as walk-in patients.
Manages medical and surgical emergencies.
Provides monitoring and continuity of care between physician visits.
Correct assignment of appropriate CPT & ICD-9 at time of service.
Has a basic understanding of HIPAA regulations.
Adheres to basic ethical principals associated with government and insurance company reimbursements. Reports any observed questionable activities to the appropriate compliance officer or administrative manager.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
Education / Regulatory Requirements:
•Licensed as Registered Nurse in state of Arkansas.
•Successful completion of an approved nurse practitioner program.
•Highly desirable: 3 years professional nursing experience in clinic setting and 2 years experience as an APN
Language Skills:
•Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
•Additional languages preferred.
Additional Skills / Knowledge:
•Basic computer knowledge.
•Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices and regulations to give and evaluate patient care. Skill in applying and modifying the principles, methods and techniques of professional nursing to provide ongoing patient care.
•Skill in taking medical histories to assess medical condition and interpret findings.
•Ability to maintain quality control standards.
•Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
•Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures.
•Ability to communicate clearly and establish/maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and the public.
