Vacancy Description:
Provides direct and indirect nurse driven care in the interventional pain management setting in both a clinic and procedures component under the supervision of designated pain management physicians and the Program Coordinator. Candidate motivated to provide patient care continuity that reflects initiative and responsibility indicative of professional expectations directed toward meeting both the psychosocial and physical needs of the patient in a productive efficient manner. Candidate has ability and desire to be part of a high intense fast paced environment working in concert as a valued and integral member of a team in providing effective quality care. Candidate communicates effectively on behalf of the patient and the physician reflective of Mercys mission and values as well as the scope of service of the department. Candidate maintains regulatory requirements and adheres to hospital policies and standards. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
1 Assists referral process utilizing chart review in reviewing supporting documentation for admittance including triaging patients.
2 Prepares paper chart records and supporting documentation for all scheduled patients into the clinic in a timely manner. Directs patient care movement from the waiting area, examination room, and to checkout.
3 Provides nurse directed care prior to physicians clinic visit with patient including health systems review, recording vitals, medication reconciliation, addressing patient concerns pertinent to evaluation, and gowning the patient. Assists the physicians clinic visit with the patient as needed with direct patient care.
4 Follows up with the patient and enters any physicians orders, provides any necessary educational information, and obtains any necessary information or consents to provide recommended therapies.
5 Documents appropriately in the patients paper and or electronic medical records all pertinent information in accordance with hospital-wide and departmental policy and procedures. Prepares the examination for the next patient. Completes charge sheet for each patient following clinic visit.
6 Prepares paper chart records and supporting documentation for all patients scheduled for procedures in a timely manner. Assists in the transport in and transport out of the patient in the procedure room as well as moving the patient on and off the procedure table. Prepares the procedure room for the next patient.
7 Prepares the patient for the procedure by administering conscious sedation as directed by the attending physician in accordance with nursing standards. Supports the attending physician as needed during the procedure in accordance with nursing standards. Constantly monitors and responsive to changes to the patients health status in accordance with nursing standards.
8 Documents appropriately in the patients paper chart record all pertinent information in accordance with hospital-wide, surgical, outpatient and departmental policy and procedures. Insures appropriate charges are applied for the procedure for entry.
9 Maintains and executes an accurate medication reconciliation of all medications supplied by the Pharmacy in accordance with policy and procedure. Manages supplies needed in the operation of the procedure component.
10 Assists in directing the duties of part-time nursing staff in support of admitting and recovery patients scheduled for procedures.
11 Demonstrates proficiency of basic skills, equipment and procedures specific to the procedure component.
12 Submits all paper chart records for scanning following clinic or procedures day.
13 Handles all patient care calls and inquiries in a timely manner. Follows up with patients with any pertinent information directed towards their care such as appointments, test results, etc in a timely manner.
14 Communicates verbally and non-verbally in a manner effective and appropriate to all hospital personnel, physicians, patients, and their care givers.
15 Takes initiative and responsibility for meeting patient needs in a productive efficient manner. Shows ability to perform in a high intense fast paced environment.
16 Acts as a valued and integral member of a team in providing effective quality care.
17 Maintains all regulatory requirements and adheres to all hospital policies and standards.
18 Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS MINIMUM REQUIRED
Education: Graduate of accredited school of nursing.
Licensure: Current AR Registered Nurse license
Certification/Registration: Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support or upon hire.
