Dental Hygiene Administrator/Instructor

JOB DUTIES:
The administrator/instructor will direct the new Associate of Applied Science Dental Hygiene Program, which is due to begin in August 2009, and is responsible for the development, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum; long-range planning, and systematic evaluation of the program. Duties include instruction; supervision of faculty; and recruiting and advising students. The program director will work to ensure the program is of high quality, to maintain accreditation by the ADA Commission on Dental Accreditation, and to meet the needs of area employers. Other responsibilities include assessment/evaluation of instruction; participation in committee activities; student advisement, recruitment, and retention activities; professional/instructional development; participation in committee activities; service to the college; and other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum requirements include a bachelor’s degree AND registered dental hygienist (or eligible to receive certification from Kansas) OR dentist with periodontal background. The chosen candidate must have management experience, instructional experience, and a minimum of three years’ professional experience in a clinical practice either as a dental hygienist or working with a dental hygienist. Additionally, the chosen candidate will have membership in professional organizations, superior oral and written communication skills, and will be computer literate. Other job related education and/or experience may be substituted for part of these requirements.
