Asset Protection Fire Technician
Job Location: Louisville, KY
Shift:
Full Time
Responsibilities:
- Assist management of the site in their responsibilities with respect to prevention, protection, and intervention against fire risks.
- Function as a team member in the development and implementation of the site fire prevention plan and lead the normal day-to-day fire protection, prevention, and intervention operations.
- Provide technical expertise to ensure implementation of fire related regulations and company standards.
- Assist in minimizing human and material impacts in the event of accidental events.
- Coordinate activities and ensure required and adequate training of the Plant emergency response team.
List of Principle Activities:
- Complete site fire risk analyses and ensure completion of action plans.
- Prepare implementation plans to assure compliance with regulatory and company requirements.
- Establish the fire prevention, protection, and intervention rules, procedures, and instructions applicable to the site and complete periodic reviews to assure their application.
- Organize and schedule maintenance, audits, testing, and inspection of fire protection equipment & systems as required by applicable NFPA Standards & Codes, OSHA, Kentucky State Fire Marshal’s Office, Kentucky Building Code Office, and company standards.
- Participate in new and modified equipment and process risk assessments to ensure compliance with fire protection / prevention requirements.
- Ensure process equipment that has a high fire risk is subject to appropriate maintenance plans.
- Assist in the preparation and completion of employee fire awareness and training.
- Develop and maintain protocol for site Emergency Response Team.
- Participate in the organization and schedule of training events for the site Emergency Response Team.
- Participate in the training of Plant Emergency Response Team personnel.
- Alert management of all serious fire non-conformances or all persistent risks, and propose appropriate corrective actions.
- Ensure completion of and coordinate all fire related inspections.
- Submit company fire related incident and summary reports.
- Conduct fire / emergency related incident investigations.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of the site Emergency Plan.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of the site Crisis Communication Plan.
- Maintain required records, documents, and files related to Emergency Response Team training.
- Maintain required records, documents, and files related to fire protection and suppression equipment.
- Ensure all site ERT fire apparatus and emergency response equipment is maintained and functioning to company and regulatory requirements. (Examples include, but not limited to – Haz Mat Van, Medical Van, 250 gal Foam Cart, Haz Mat Trailer, Level A / Level B suits, Bunker Gear, SCBA’s, Atmospheric Monitoring Equipment, Retrieval Equipment, etc).
- Ensure all site fire equipment is maintained and functioning to company and regulatory requirements. (Examples include, but not limited to – Heat Actuated Device, Heat Actuated Rate of Rise, Dry Pipe, Anti-Freeze, Deluge, Foam, and Wet Sprinkler Systems, UL Approved Jockey & Fire Pumps, Fire Hydrants, PIV’s & Sectional PIV’s, Underground Fire Main, Fire Water Risers & Associated Buildings, Portable Fire Equipment – Fire Water Cannons, Automatic Suppression Systems – FM200/FenWal, Confined Space Equipment, Monitoring Equipment, Spill Response Equipment, Evacuation Equipment, etc).
- Ensure site fire alarm system and all associated components are maintained and functioning to company and regulatory requirements. (Examples include, but not limited to – Smart smoke detection, UV/IR detection, Incipient detection, etc).
- Ensure all site fire door / fire damper systems and associated components are maintained and functioning to company and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure all site portable extinguishers are maintained and functioning to company and regulatory requirements. (Examples include, but not limited to – 10lb / 20lb hand held dry chemical, 250lb / 350lb wheeled dry chemical, Cold Fire hand held units, etc).
- Monitor, update, and train employees to the site Emergency Plan.
- Review and ensure fire protection designs and proper sprinkler densities are achieved maintained.
Education Level or Equivalent Experience:
- Bachelor degree preferably in fire sciences or a minimum of 7+ years of technical industrial fire experience.
- Must possess working knowledge of NFPA Standards and Codes.
- Must possess working knowledge of Federal Occupational Health and Safety Standards
- Must possess working knowledge of Kentucky Occupational Health and Safety Standards.
- Must possess working knowledge of Kentucky Building Codes.
- Demonstrated problem solving skills.
- Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work with employees at all levels.
- Leadership skills.
- Must possess planning, organizational, and facilitation skills.
