Measurement and Vision Tech Engineer

Job Location: Greenville, SC

Shift: Full Time

Description:
As a member of the Measurement and Control Engineering Plant Support Group, this Engineer has the mission to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the measurement equipment employed by the Quality Groups in the Michelin North America factories.

For the assigned measurement machines/systems, this individual will anchor the ongoing North America factory support for:
- Assistance in technical problem solving/analysis.
- Liaison between factory, quality groups, PIT teams, and other Engineering groups (including Engineering groups in France) to assure mutual customer-supplier system requirement understanding.
- Developing or defining functional specifications for new machines, systems, or improvement modifications.
- Providing project management support for new machines, systems, or improvement modifications.
- Start-up assistance and qualification/acceptance support for new machines/systems.
- Assurance of complete and current technical documentation.
- Developing training material for new and existing technology and provide training to factory personnel.
- Providing audits for verification and control machines/systems and maintenance programs.
- Providing formal documentation to support the above activities and maintain proper document management

Required Background/Qualifications:
- BSEE with equivalent technical training and experience. MSEE is preferred.
- Ability to deal with electronics, data acquisition and signal conditioning, PLC automation, PC programming for data reduction and mechanical measurement equipment.
- Three to five years' industrial experience in measurement and testing equipment preferred or equivalent graduate level experience. Measurement expertise in theory, operation and maintenance of measurement equipment to achieve a desired measurement capability.
- Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills. Must be able to develop positive relationships with clients.
- Well organized and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Examples of project management of large projects or of many small to medium projects are required.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and resolve issues. Both written and verbal communication skills are essential. Ability to communicate with French counterparts on technical issues is preferred.
- Exhibit high degree of confidentiality in dealings with outside contractors and equipment suppliers. Must maintain and protect sensitive company quality criteria.
- Preferred to have experience with vision technologies as well as laser measurement device.
- Willing to travel (~30%) in support of the above duties and responsibilities. This includes international travel outside North America from time to time.
