Description
Position Description:
Perform research and development on new and existing semi-finished and raw materials and test methods to improve materials for tire applications in collaboration with a project leader. Work with external suppliers, universities and other materials personnel to evaluate new and existing materials to increase understanding of rubber chemistry and physics
Responsibilities:
1) Identify, research and develop new materials, methods or processes that can improve the performance, cost, and/or quality of the tire or auxiliary components.
2) Support on-going material research activities by preparing and testing prototype materials in a laboratory environment.
3) Coordinate with external suppliers, universities and other outside entities the identification, research and development of new materials for tire applications.
Educational Requirements:
Masters degree required, PhD preferred, in chemistry, materials science, chemical engineering, or related field
Skills:
Good interpersonal skills;
Demonstrated ability to set and achieve goals with minimal supervision;
Demonstrated verbal and written skills;
Demonstrated ability to work and excel on team projects;
Demonstrated leadership experience in major projects;
Required 3 - 5 years experience in related fields
Is willing to travel (foreign and/or domestic) when necessary for his/her job responsibilities;
Is willing to work safely and promote good safety habits in the workplace; and
Can effectively use MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access
