Director of Admissions

Job Location: Red Wing, MN

Job Type: Full-time/Unlimited

Responsibilities:
The position of Director of Admissions exists to lead and direct the enrollment management process by developing and implementing a strategic enrollment management plan for the two campuses of Winona and Red Wing. This person will establish enrollment management goals for the college and lead the college recruiting efforts, in conjunction with the college’s marketing department. In addition, the Director will oversee the implementation of the college’s admissions, placement and recruitment plans and provide leadership to the Admissions Department. This position works with college faculty, high school counselors, the college Marketing department, Placement office and business and industry to broaden communication channels. This position is responsible for attaining annual enrollment and placement goals by use of continuous improvement strategies and skills. This person will have a key role in developing innovative approaches to expand access to information about the college.

Position Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise and lead direct reports effectively is critical.
  • Thorough knowledge of higher education principles, programs, and processes, enrollment management practices and processes
  • Exceptional public relations, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Good leadership, organization, and computer-user skills required.
  • Ability to plan and prioritize a variety of tasks and meet deadlines is critical.
  • Ability to lead and facilitate group processes and decision making, work collaboratively, and encourage the involvement of others is critical.
  • Ability to project a professional image and use professional judgment is of primary concern.
  • Excellent goal-setting and follow-through skills in order to enhance and document admissions and recruitment success is required.
  • Must be able to work collaboratively with diverse campus groups, students and external constituents.
  • Knowledge is required in: recruitment and information strategies; customer/student service standards; continuous quality improvement methods; media relations; advertising and promotions strategies; graphic design principle; and computer applications.
  • Ability to work directly with the Marketing Department is critical to the position.
  • A background in marketing would be beneficial to this position.
  • The incumbent must be flexible, innovative, and responsive to a complex and changing organization.
  • The position functions in an informal counseling role, thereby requiring an additional set of human relations; problem solving, and referral skills.
  • Minimum qualifications: BA degree, 3-5 years experience in college admissions area. A degree in Marketing, social sciences, management, and/or human relations is considered helpful. Master Degree preferred.
  • Ability to travel between campuses, meetings and conferences within the scope of the position
