Job Vacancy Description:
Montgomery College, Facilities Office, Takoma Park/Silver Spring Campus, has need for a Building Equipment Mechanic, #3025. Work schedule is Tuesday – Saturday, 6:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Bargaining. Participation in a retirement plan is a condition of employment. Starting salary $20.21-34.49 per hour, with a salary generally falling within the first half of the range. Job Summary: Position is responsible for the operation, maintenance and repairs of central heating and cooling plant, hot and chilled water distribution water line loops, as well as individual rooftop package units on Campus.
Education & Training: Position requires graduation from high school, or G.E.D. Completion of courses or training in maintaining and operating building heating and cooling equipment preferred. Position also requires a valid driver’s license. As a condition of employment, evidence of a good driving record and evidence of a high school diploma or G.E.D. certificate is required at the time of employment.
Qualifications: Position requires ability to operate a PC computer using commercial energy management software. Position also requires a State of Maryland 2nd Grade Stationary Engineers License. Applicants who have a Maryland Journeyman’s HVACR License can be considered with an understanding that they must obtain their 2nd Grade Stationary Engineers License within 24 months of employment. CFC Certification Type II and III also required. A Universal CFC certification is preferred. Must be able to reach high places, perform overhead work and lift heavy items/loads.
Experience: Positions require a minimum of 3 years knowledge and experience working with heating ventilation and air conditioning systems, air handling units and VAV boxes, rooftop packaged unit. Experience with DDC controls preferred.
