Montgomery College's Workforce Development & Continuing Education (WDCE) division seeks adjunct faculty to teach noncredit computer courses during the evenings and Saturdays for the Information Technology Institute. The Information Technology Institute delivers high quality computer training to Maryland’s technology community and general public. ITI courses are taught in state of the art computer centers throughout Montgomery County, Maryland.
IMMEDIATE NEED
The Information Technology Institute is currently seeking qualified Instructors to teach AJAX Level I and II at the Gaithersburg Business Training Center.
AJAX I
Ajax Introduction, Level I, CMP904
AJAX (Asynchronous JavaScript and XML) is a “Web 2.0” development method widely used on commercial web sites. AJAX combines JavaScript, XML, and Cascading Style Sheet technologies to create menus, display content dynamically, and build other interactive web features customized to the user’s selections. Learn the fundamentals of the AJAX framework, and how to make XML databases which interact with AJAX scripting to provide information and rich web site experiences. After taking this course, students will be able to create Ajax-based applications in an efficient and modular way.
Prerequisites:
Programming Fundamentals (CMP839) HTML Advanced (CMP056), Dreamweaver Advanced (CMP060) or Cascading Style Sheets (CMP843), and JavaScript (CMP050), or equivalent web scripting/ developer experience.
Technology update:
Please bring a Flash Drive/Memory Stick 512MB or larger to class which will enable you to save your class work.

Course Objectives:
Upon completion of this course students will be able to:
Apply learned XML fundamentals to programming.
Create XML databases for use with AJAX scripting.
Learn and apply AJAX scripting technologies and scripts.
AJAX II
Ajax , Level II, CMP912
This course builds on the AJAX web development methods taught in AJAX Introduction Level I. This course expands on basic AJAX principles of distributing the application between client and the server. Students will learn how to integrate AJAX applications with some popular web technologies such as JSP, PHP, ASP and other server side scripting languages. Other advanced AJAX topics include combining Extensible Style Sheet Language Transformations (XSLT) and XML documents to build stand-alone AJAX applications.
Prerequisites:
AJAX Introduction Level I or equivalent experience.

Course Objectives:
Upon completion of this course students will be able to:
Prepare and create AJAX applications used with other client / server scripting technologies.
Use XSLT to make XML documents readable to users.
Build stand-alone AJAX applications for the web.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Teach Java Programming, conduct hands-on exercises, prepare lesson plans and respond to students’ inquiries.
Qualifications:
All adjunct faculty positions require appropriate degree(s), industry certification(s), and professional teaching experience. You will be asked to conduct a short teaching demonstration.
