Montgomery College's Workforce Development & Continuing Education (WDCE) division seeks adjunct faculty to teach noncredit computer courses during the evenings and Saturdays for the Information Technology Institute. The Information Technology Institute delivers high quality computer training to Maryland’s technology community and general public. ITI courses are taught in state of the art computer centers throughout Montgomery County, Maryland.

IMMEDIATE NEED
The Information Technology Institute is currently seeking qualified Instructors to teach J2EE Level I and II at the Gaithersburg Business Training Center.

Course Description:
This course focuses on the Java 2 Platform Enterprise Edition (J2EE) for the development of multi-tier applications. J2EE Level 1 explores techniques for building server-side programs for dynamically-generated Web sites using web technologies like JSP, Servlets and Java Beans. This course also explores the Java APIs used by server-side applications. Topics include JSP, Servlets, Cookies, Sessions, Java Database Connectivity (JDBC) for portable access to corporate databases, Java Naming and Directory Interface (JNDI) for locating system resources, Remote Method Invocation (RMI) for the distributed invocation of services and separating content from presentation through use of JavaBeans components and the MVC (Model 2) architecture.

Prerequisites:
Familiarity with the Internet, Web, and HTML.

Technology update:
Please bring a Flash Drive/Memory Stick 512MB or larger to class which will enable you to save your class work.

Textbook:
Books may be purchased at the MC Bookstore or online. You will need to know the CMP#(Continuing Education classes) for the class you are taking in order to look up information about the textbook.

Upon completion of this course students will be able to:
Apply knowledge of the basic architecture of J2EE, HTML, JSP & Servlet
Design and use Java Beans for writing programs
Implement the Sessions and Cookies in J2EE Applications
Configure and Implement JDBC (Java Database Connectivity)
Apply knowledge of RMI (Remote Method Invocation) & JNDI (Java Naming and Directory Interface)

J2EE II
J2EE Level II, CMP901

Course Description:
This course focuses on the Java 2 Platform Enterprise Edition (J2EE) for the development of multi-tier applications. This course will focus on the enterprise technologies of the J2EE framework. J2EE Level 2 focuses on the Enterprise Java Beans (EJB) model for transaction-aware business components. Using commercial application servers, students will design and implement a significant programming project using session n and entity beans, the Java Transaction API (JTA), and the APIs covered in the J2EE Level 1 class. Additional topics covered may include the Java Messaging Service (JMS) for publish-subscribe applications and security issues for distributed Java systems

Duties and Responsibilities:
Teach J2EE Programming, conduct hands-on exercises, prepare lesson plans and respond to students’ inquiries.

Qualifications:
All adjunct faculty positions require appropriate degree(s), industry certification(s), and professional teaching experience. You will be asked to conduct a short teaching demonstration.
