Job Vacancy Description:
Montgomery College, Takoma Park/Silver Spring Campus, has need for a part-time Instructional Associate (Nursing Lab), #0529. Work schedule is 20 hours per week between the 10:00 a.m. – 6:30 p.m., and may require some evening or Saturday hours to meet the needs of the program. This is a temporary position, with benefits, through June 30, 2010, with probability for continuation beyond that date.

Job Summary:
Position provides instructional assistance for students in the Nursing Program. Duties include but are not limited to the following: assist in the coordination of the operation of the Nursing Laboratories by working with individual and groups of nursing students as they practice required nursing skills; work with the lab coordinator to set up and break down teaching labs for faculty, monitor student assistants, plan simulation activities, order and restock supplies, keep track of student hours and other statistics. Assist faculty by providing review workshops to students, demonstrate skills in on-campus labs and assist with end of semester simulation evaluations.
Education & Training:
Positions require a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and CPR-BLS. As a condition of employment, an official transcript of degree is required at the time of employment. A Maryland Registered Nurse (RN) license or eligibility to licensure is also required.
Qualifications: Position requires the following:
- ability to use computer hardware and software such as MS Office, specifically MS Word and Outlook;
- familiarity with electronic medical records and current medication delivery methods and nursing skills;
- ability to learn/demonstrate/utilize
- technological teaching devices such as virtual IV and medication-dispense system; and
- use of a wide variety of medical equipment including but not limited to the following: IV pumps and associated supplies, electric beds, electronic IVAC thermometers, and electronic tympanic thermometers.
Experience:
Recent medical-surgical experience required. Experience developing materials that serve as learning supplements is preferred.
