The Welding Engineer reports to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager and Works Directly with Shop Supervisors and Operators. This Position Serves as a Focal Point of Communication to Facilitate the Most Rapid and Efficient Solution to Manufacturing Challenges.
THE WELDING ENGINEERS WILL:
Assist in the Application of New Procedures and Equipment for the Fabrication of Product as Required to Ensure Traceability and Meet Industry/Market Standards, Welding, Weld Qualifications, Heat Treat, and Assembly Procedures are Documented by the Welding Engineer. Problem Solving Abilities are Essential To Success in the Role;
Offer Solutions and Support through Action Implementation after Analyzing Manufacturing Challenges, Cost, Time and the Probability of Reoccurrence;
Provide Input to Industrial and Tool Engineering for Improvements in Fixtures, Equipment, and Product Fabrication;
Investigate Alternative Production Methods to Insure Products are Consistently Produced in the Most Cost Effective Manner.
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor of Science in Welding Engineering preferred / Bachelor of Science in other Engineering disciplines or Metallurgy acceptable;
Minimum 5 + years Direct Work Experience is essential, and more is better.
10 to 15 Years Left In Career Before Retirement;
Thorough knowledge of welding and heat treat processes and systems in a ferrous or nickel alloy metals;
Thorough knowledge of ASME procedures and performance qualifications requirements;
Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, and Access;
Knowledge of ASME Section IX, European PED, and NACE requirements are a plus;
ASME IX, ASMEIX, ASME 9, ASME9 - ASME's quality specs for welding / joining. This should be prominent in the resume.
Construction welding people do not fit - candidates must be from a metal goods mfg facility - not automotive. This company does not use robots and will usually not be responsive to automotive / aircraft, aerospace types.
To Qualify - You Must Have All Of The Following Requirements
Minimum 5 Years Direct Work Experience in Welding and ASME 9.
