Needed to Fill Several Positions / Job Openings on a Direct-Hire Employment Basis with a Top Oil and Gas Refining Company With Over 40 Refineries & Petrochemical Facilities Worldwide
Major Oil and Gas Refining Company doing staffing for succession planning needs Materials and Corrosion Engineers from the Chemical Process Industry, Oil and Gas Refining and/or Petrochemicals Industry.
REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum: 5 Years Experience in solving the Corrosion and Materials Engineering Problems of a Petrochemicals and/or Oil and Gas Refinery;
Maximum: 15 Years Left in Career;
At least a BS in Metallurgical Engineering, Metallurgy or Materials Science;
Several Years Experience as a Refinery Materials Engineer;
Experience in Failure Analysis, Materials Selection and Specification;
Materials and Corrosion Equipment Integrity Work Experience on Facilities;
High Temperature and Pressure and Corrosion Control and Monitoring Methods;
Mechanical Properties Testing and Failure Analysis;
Working knowledge of general NDE methods including Weld Radiographic Interpretation, Visual Inspection, Dye Penetrant, Magnetic Particle, and Ultrasonic testing;
NBIC certification is preferred but not mandatory;
Thorough Knowledge of ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, ASME Piping Code, NBIC, API 510, API 570, and API 653.
KEY DELIVERABLES:
The Materials Engineer is responsible for Material of Construction Selections for new Fixed Equipment and Repair/Replacement Components and Methods.
Provides Surveillance of Refinery Processing Units to Monitor Changes in Operating Conditions that affect the Performance and/or Remaining Service Life of existing Fixed Equipment with respect to their Materials of Construction. *This includes Analyzing Process Trends, Monitoring Corrosion Control Programs, Reviewing Equipment Histories, Reporting Significant Findings as well as Providing Information to Inspectors (who determine inspection schedules, inspection methods, and predict remaining life of fixed equipment).
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Specifying Correct Materials of Construction for new Fixed Equipment as well as Replacement/Spare Parts through Review/Approval of Process Design Specifications (PDS);
Specifying correct Materials of Construction for Replacement/Upgrade of Fixed Equipment through Review/Approval of Management Of Change (MOC) Documents;
Reviewing/Approving Material Specifications for Equipment and Assemblies being purchased. This Review/Approval Activity includes any Welding Procedures or Other Fabrication Specifications applicable to Assembled Equipment and Parts;
Conduct Unit Material Reviews (UMR) of Existing Units to Identify Degradation Mechanisms affecting Fixed Equipment and Communicate Findings to unit inspectors;
Review/Approve Equipment Reliability Operating Envelopes (EROE's) to Assure Proper Monitoring Of Operating Parameters critical to the Service Life of Fixed Equipment;
Acting as Lead In Development of Equipment Strategy Development Plans (ESDP) for Fixed Equipment throughout the Refinery. Work closely with the ESDP coordinator to Assure High Quality Data Input and Thorough Analysis;
Monitoring Material Degradation Activity including the following:
Testing by On-stream Corrosion Monitoring;
Provide and/or Oversee the Failure Analysis of Fixed Equipment and/or Parts;
Researching Industry Publications and Technical Societies i.e. National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE) for Common Corrosion Problems or New Observations.
SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE & TRAINING:
Thorough Knowledge of Materials Related Policies and Procedures including Refinery Construction Materials Manual, TMEE 0062, and the applicable Global Practices;
Working Knowledge of Fixed Equipment Program Manuals including FEQA, ERIM, Owner/User, Weld Quality, OSIP, MERIT;
Working Knowledge of General NDE Methods including Weld Radiographic Interpretation, Visual Inspection, Dye Penetrant, Magnetic Particle, and Ultra Sonic testing.
TRAVEL:
Up to 20%
