Six Sigma Principal Specialist Senior

Job Location: Tulsa, OK

Department: Cross Family / Nacelle & Thrust Reversers - Tulsa

Summary Statement:
Possesses and applies comprehensive knowledge to lead and facilitate cross-functional quality improvement teams using the Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control (DMAIC) or other Six Sigma roadmaps and Lean methodologies. Plan, direct and coordinate the application of Six Sigma processes and the implementation of related policies, procedures and measures to improve the efficiency of operations and the workforce. Provides technical expertise to management and represents the Company to customer, outside business or regulatory personnel in matters relating to NORDAM Business Systems.

Essential Functions and Key Responsibilities:
Plans and conducts assignments generally involving the larger and more important projects or more than one project. Operates with considerable latitude for actions or decisions that are not reviewed.

Applies Six Sigma tools to improve process capability and eliminate defects. Identify and manage resources required to successfully execute projects. Lead and participate in clusters of projects and major business initiatives. Educate, coach, and mentor Green Belts and others on Six Sigma philosophy and application. Teaches and transfers skills to team leaders, team members, and general audiences. Performs training and mentoring to others in solving process and work related problems.

Applies advanced statistical methods and benchmarking techniques to analyze and resolve work problems utilizing performance metrics that accurately reflect the current state and sustained improvement of selected processes. Applies DMAIC, Lean, Workout, and Change Acceleration (CAP) tools to identify and implement sustained solutions in accordance with Six Sigma principles. Translates the concepts of defect and variability data collection activities to improve understanding of performance.

Collaborates with internal process leaders to identify key opportunities for improvement of products, processes, and services. Implement changes in administrative and production processes, job assignments, working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work team.

Coordinates with other support and administrative groups to provide for engineering, planning, tooling, provisioning, and other departmental assistance to ensure internal and external customer expectations are met or exceeded.

Propose process technology improvements and capital expenditures. Mentors large groups of Green Belts to increase business results and impact. Deliver process improvements and financial results through application of tools to projects or leadership of teams. Engage Champions, business leaders, Green Belts in driving change and institutionalizing Six Sigma for customer and business results. Strategize with leadership to integrate customer requirements into all activities.

Ancillary Job Functions and Responsibilities:
This position may provide administrative and technical leadership over other Stakeholders in the department. Perform other duties as required. These duties may include assignments in job classifications other than the primary assignment.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
SIX SIGMA PRINCIPAL SPECIALIST SENIOR

Formal Education, Training, Professional Certification and Work Experience:
Bachelor degree in an appropriate discipline from an accredited four-year college or university and twelve (12) years related experience and/or training. A combination of education and experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.

Works under limited direction. Guidance as to objectives, critical issues and policy. Exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and methods.

Standard Job Requirements:
* Must be able to read and write the English language, perform basic mathematical calculations and learn to interpret and comprehend company policies, procedures, safety instructions, and other like documents used in an aerospace manufacturing environment.
* Competent in the use of standard software applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel and operate standard office equipment.
* Make telephone and direct personal contact with internal and external personnel and make formal presentations to small or large groups.
* May perform work of lesser skilled employees.

Special Job Requirements:
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to develop strong working relationships and work effectively with all organization levels and make formal presentations to small or large groups.
* Skilled in Lean Manufacturing techniques including Kaizen, TPM, 5S, JIT and TPS.
* Strong strategic, analytical problem solving, and computer aptitude skills
* Demonstrated team leadership skills and strong project management skills. Strong quantitative, problem solving, and analytical skills.

Special Training:
* Safety training applicable to the job and the general work area.

Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the Stakeholder is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk and hear. The Stakeholder frequently is required to move from one place to another and reach with hands and arms. The Stakeholder must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus. Travel between facilities. Must be able to work in excess of eight (8) hours per day and five (5) days per week, if required. NRD: Must be able to ascend and descend stairs.

Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the Stakeholder is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The Stakeholder is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Mental Requirements:
Able to work as a team member, highly organized, work well under stress and handle multiple priorities. Must possess interpersonal and communication skills to interact with other people inside and outside the company.

Skills and Work Requirements:
Must be able to work in a team environment. Must also be able to work with teams across all NORDAM divisions including Corporate.
