Job Description Summary Statement:
Applies advanced technical skills and knowledge in the performance of to apply advanced technical skills and knowledge in the operation of computer-aided design (CAD) system and peripheral equipment to develop complete major layouts of engineering drawings from information provided by engineering in a field of specialization.
Essential Functions and Key Responsibilities:
Performs engineering drafting assignments that are varied and moderately complex to complex in scope and technical difficulty. Makes final sketch of proposed drawing, checking dimension of parts, materials to be used, relation of one part to another, and relation of various parts to whole structure or project. May function as a working leader. Uses computer assisted drafting (CAD) equipment and software to develop complete major layouts of engineering drawings from predetermined basic designs in a field of specialization such as structures, mechanics, electrical or electronics. Draws finished designs from sketches. Works from notes sketches or general instructions of engineers. Make mathematical calculations as required. Determines scaling required inserts necessary reference planes, centering and dimension lines, hidden line interpolations and sectioning. Prepares specifications for parts assemblies and installations and prepares complete detail production drawings. Contributes design modifications to improve quality of the product or manufacturing operations. Utilizes knowledge of various machines, engineering practices, mathematics, building materials, and other physical sciences to complete drawings. Makes any adjustments or changes necessary or desired. Inks in lines and letters on pencil drawings as required. Draws charts for representation of statistical data.
Job Qualifications:
Formal Education, Training and Work Experience:
Experience may be substituted for the formal education and training requirements in this section at the discretion of management. Associates degree design and drafting using computer assisted drafting equipment or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school and four (4) to seven (7) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Job Requirements, Skills, Tools and Equipment:
Demonstrate competency in applying the following in performing normal job duties. Minimum of 800 hours of Computer aided design experience using standard software design packages such as AutoCAD, Catia, or CADD.
Skills and Work Requirements:
* Experience with 1st and 3rd angle projection and GD&T preferred
* Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident
* Must have experience using CAD systems (AutoCAD and Catia preferred)
* Must have 2-D CAD experience (3-D preferred)
* Must have experience with Microsoft applications
* SAP experience preferred
* Must have strong problem solving skills
* Must be able to work as an effective part of a team
* Experience in executive A/C interiors preferred
