Team Leader - Work Group

Job Description Summary Statement:
Applies and demonstrates a mastery of the technical skills and advanced knowledge to perform all core tasks in a work group. Assists the work group leader to supervise and coordinate activities of assigned personnel, implements and administers policies and procedures as delegated by management.
Essential Functions and Key Responsibilities:
Performs all core tasks in an assigned production or non-production work group and including all specialized tasks or project assignments. The work performed is substantial in variety and complexity and requires considerable experience and judgment to plan and accomplish.
Performs the same work as the stakeholders in the work group. Performs all functions and operations within the assigned production or non-production work group. This may include, but is not limited to, initiating and completing all required documentation, operating powered equipment, building shipping crates, using hand tools to cut, form, shape, assemble, repair or otherwise perform work processes to produce parts, components, subassemblies and final assemblies.
Assists the work group leader to oversee department activities and work assignments to meet schedules and contract priorities. Interprets specifications, blueprints, and job orders to workers, and assigns duties. Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production or processing schedules.
Uses technical knowledge to make suggestions and utilize skills. Maintains constructive working relationships with other stakeholders and works at maintaining the positive morale of the work group.
Receives and answers questions from stakeholders pertaining to area processes or equipment operation. Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems. Confers with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments.
Trains stakeholders in equipment operation product processing or fabrication and safety procedures within the work area over which supervision is exercised.
Ancillary Functions and Responsibilities:
Performs other duties as required. These duties may include assignments in job classifications other than the primary assignment.

Formal Education, Training, Licenses and Work Experience:
Experience may be substituted for the formal education and training requirements in this section at the discretion of management. High School graduate and a minimum of five (5) years of experience in performing the type of work in the discipline of the work group where they will perform the duties of a Team Leader. The experience requirements may be met through directly related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Candidates for this position must be proficient in the processes and procedures for the area over which supervision is exercised.
Categories and Number of Stakeholders Directly Supervised:
Provide technical leadership over 3 to 10 Production and Maintenance Stakeholders.
Special Job Requirements, Skills, Tools and Equipment:
Demonstrate competency in applying the following in performing normal job duties.
• May perform all work operations of the area over which leadership is exercised.
• The following statement is only applicable if the job function will also be performed under the division’s repair station certificate. Have either – at least 18 months of practical experience in the procedures, practices, inspection methods, materials, tools, machine tools, and equipment generally used in the maintenance duties of the specific job for which the person is to be employed and certified; or completed formal training that is acceptable to the Administrator and is specifically designed to qualify the applicant for the job on which the applicant is to be employed.
Special Training and Behavioral Competencies:
The following training requirements and competencies must be met before acceding to this job.
• Safety training applicable to the job and the general work area.
• Complete the required NORDAM University training for Leads and Supervisors.
• Comply with The NORDAM Group Leadership Competencies for Leads and Supervisors.
• Ability and willingness to assist and transfer technical knowledge to less experienced Stakeholders.
Physical Requirements:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a Stakeholder to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the Stakeholder is regularly required to talk and hear and is also required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The Stakeholder is occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The Stakeholder must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Work in excess of eight (8) hours per day and five (5) days per week as required, in addition to specific requirements of the job. Must be able to ascend and descend stairs.
Work Environment:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those a Stakeholder encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the Stakeholder is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Skills and Work Requirements:
*Overtime is a requirement of the job.
*Must be able to work in excess of eight hours per day and five days per week.
*Experience in aircraft, interior or architectural cabinet manufacturing and/or final assembly experience is preferred
*Must be able to work independently and as an effective part of a team
*Must be able to solve simple to moderately to complex problems
*Must demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate and lead by example
*Must have a high level of technical knowledge to lead effectively
*Prefer above average level of Computer knowledge including Excel, Word, and Outlook
