WHY IS THIS A GREAT OPPORTUNITY?

Desktop Systems Administrator, Hedge Funds . Client is a 10 BIO Fund based in NYC on Park Avenue.

OVERVIEW OF THE POSITION:

We are seeking a self-starter who learns quickly and is eager to take on any task assigned. The Systems Engineer will serve as a technical resource for in the oversight and maintenance of the IT infrastructure and operations of the 10 Billiion Dollar Hedge Fund based in NYC Midtown on Park Avenue. This is a very stable position with strong growth that reports directly to the CTO of the firm.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Desktop
    • Support end-user workstation capabilities including design and implementation of one or more images.
    • Support a Citrix XenDesktop environment.
  • Server
    • Troubleshooting and management of accounts, groups, mailboxes, shares, applications, and general administration
  • Network
    • Troubleshoot and manage network issues as they arise
  • Mobile devices
    • Support and roll out iOS and Blackberry devices, manage carrier contracts
  • Phone system
    • Configure desk phone accounts and troubleshoot problems
  • System and process documentation
    • Organize existing documentation and create new documentation

Technical tools and platforms currently in use include:

  • End User: Windows 7/Office 2010, Bloomberg, Capital IQ, FactSet, EZE OMS, Acrobat, ProTrak, Workshare, iOS, Cisco Phones, Cisco Jabber, Symantec EndPoint protection, Canon MFP, HP printers
  • Server/Network: VMWare 6, Windows 2008/2012, Exchange 2010, SQL 2008/2012, Cisco rack mound and blade servers, Nimble SAN, Cisco Call Manager, Symantec Enterprise Vault, Carbonite Backup, Cisco routers, switches and FWs, Palo Alto FWs

Primary responsibilities estimated percentage allocation:

  • 65% End user support, operational management, and documentation
  • 35% Server/network/storage support and new project initiatives

Rate from 1-5 5 being best.

* XenDesktop administration. This could include Netscaler, Ivanti Workspace Control, App Layering, PVS, MCS - (3-4 since I only work on Xendesktop version 3 and 4)

* Office 365 Migrations

* Group Policy

* Windows 10 image creation and migration -

* Exchange -

* Active Directory

* Cisco phone system administration

* VMWare administration

* Zerto

QUALIFICATIONS

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • IT Knowledge/Experience
    • Experience successfully supporting IT operations in a highly demanding environment
    • Efficient troubleshooting of problems with precision and grace
    • Strong knowledge of Windows 10 and MS Office
    • Previous experience creating desktop images
    • Strong troubleshooting skills
    • Strong Apple iOS skills
    • VMWare Hypervisor
    • Citrix XenDesktop
    • Active Directory, DNS, GPO
    • MS Exchange
    • Working knowledge of Cisco IOS, network troubleshooting, SAN storage, Cisco Call Manager, SQL, PowerShell
    • Windows Server Update Services
    • Office 365, Azure, and AWS migrations are a plus
  • Decision Making/Problem Solving
    • Demonstrated clear, analytical thinking and sound judgment
    • Ability and to make timely decisions based on analysis
    • Demonstrated strong problem solving capabilities
  • Initiative and Teamwork
    • Ability to direct oneself with minimal supervision
    • Strong work ethic
    • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks

    • Understanding that long hours/off hour support may sometimes be needed
  • Finance Systems Knowledge
    • Experience working with infrastructure to support financial systems including Eze Castle OMS, Advent Axys, Bloomberg, Capital IQ, FactSet

BACKGROUND AND TRAINING:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor of Science in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or other related discipline
  • A minimum of 5 years relevant business and/or technical experience in a financial systems environment

University - Bachelor`s Degree/3-4 Year Degree
