OVERVIEW:

The Maintenance Supervisor will have a variety of responsibilities including managing all aspects of the maintenance functions. This role provides leadership for the manufacturing maintenance programs. Specific responsibilities include, scheduling, coordinating, overseeing and performing maintenance of manufacturing equipment, administering maintenance records, coordinating and overseeing contractor activities, and training maintenance personnel.

SUMMARY:

  1. Directly supervising employees in the Maintenance Department including two I&E Technicians and two Plant Mechanics.
  2. Monitoring performance and providing feedback to direct reports through formal and informal performance feedback; regularly communicates with staff to achieve mutual understanding and desired results.
  3. Carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws.
  4. Planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance and rewarding and disciplining employees; address complaints and resolve problems.
  5. Implementing and managing the preventive maintenance program of the facility. Program must be designed to reduce downtime in all aspects of manufacturing.
  6. Collaborating with plant management to identify, develop and execute major capital/maintenance projects.
  7. Analyzing operational problems and developing modifications in design to improve efficiency.
  8. Verifying parts/material availability in storeroom, ordering required materials.
  9. Implementing and track the effectiveness of preventive maintenance.
  10. Consistently improving housekeeping at the facility.
  11. Interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
  12. Managing departmental resources to support achievement of plant objective.
  13. Assisting in the planning and execution of large maintenance projects and shutdown work.
  14. Identifying and initiating continuous process improvements to reduce costs related to equipment downtime.
  15. Attending and actively participating in all safety and production meetings.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Skills in electrical, PLC, carpentry, welding, pipefitting, machinery alignment, millwright, plumbing, rigging, hydraulics, use of hand and power tools.
  • Mechanical experience including hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Knowledge of various CMMS systems.
  • Communicate effectively (verbal, listening, written) and work with various departments. Self-motivated, team-player with good interpersonal skills; ability to maintain positive customer relations & act courteous/respectful of others.

REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma or GED; and one year certificate from a college or technical school; or 10+ years work experience in a manufacturing environment with increasing responsibility in a related industry may be substituted for the above.
  • Ability to operate a variety of hand and power tools, shop equipment and machine tools.
  • Ability to inspect equipment, recognize potential problems and independently take appropriate corrective action to prevent component failures or equipment down time.
  • Proven leadership, management and supervisory experience is required.
  • Ability to plan and direct the work of your assigned direct reports.
  • Ability to walk, stand, stoop, sit, climb, and carry material (up to 55 lbs) on a daily basis.
  • Experience working in a small plant environment (i.e. less than 40 people) is a strong plus.
  • Willing to work alone a high percentage of the time.
  • Wearing personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Must be able to maintain quality work performance with frequent distraction.
  • Demonstrated understanding of safety, health environmental, quality systems, and regulatory compliance guidelines preferred.
  • Must be 18 years or age with a valid drivers license.
  • Must be able to successfully complete a post-offer pre-employment physical, drug screen and background check.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS/SCOPE:

The Maintenance Supervisor report to the Maintenance & Engineering Manager. He/she will work with various departments outside the department to set goals and action plans to achieve the departmental and corporate goals.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Frequent walking, standing, climbing, reaching at and above shoulders, pushing/pulling, twisting at waist, upward and downward flexion of neck, side-to-side turning of neck; grasp and hand and arm strength to lift equipment;
  • Exposure to fumes and odors of chemicals, gasses, dust and plant process, equipment noise, heights, noise, extreme weather conditions, and areas where hazardous chemicals are present.
  • Temperature swings from air conditioning to plant or outdoors;
  • Required to climb about equipment & work in confined areas
  • Ability to adapt to changing situations and to handle competing demands with flexibility.
  • Must be able to lift up to 55 pounds, climb stairs, kneel, stoop, sit, and walk extensively.
