This company principally provides real estate investments structured to provide long-term, stable income and asset preservation to accredited 1031 and 1033 investors. Their goal is to consistently deliver diversified 1031-exchangeable Delaware Statutory Trust (DST) portfolios of both long-term, net-leased properties as backed by investment-grade corporations, as well as value-add shopping center portfolios (VAP) with stable cash flow and upside potential. JOB DESCRIPTION
This client is searching for a Controller to oversee the value-added portfolios (VAP) within the commercial real estate investment company.
This position reports to the Chief Accounting Officer (CAO) and is responsible for all aspects of their VAP offerings, focused on the in-line and outparcel tenants of grocery-anchored shopping centers. The position will drive the buildout of various accounting processes, procedures, and financial reporting in the Yardi accounting system as it relates to the operations of the assets. The Controller will manage a group of senior and staff accountants and assist in their ongoing training and development. The Controller will collaborate with the Asset Management and Analysis Departments to manage and scale the value-add platform, seek ways to drive timely and accurate reporting, improve overall performance and oversight, and identify opportunities for underwriting efficiencies. QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance required.
CPA (active license status preferred, or ability to promptly renew).
Real estate experience is strongly preferred, and Multi-tenant retail accounting experience a plus.
7-10+ years of accounting experience in top-tier public accounting firms and/or private industry.
One (1+) or more years of Assistant Controller or Controller experience.
Demonstrated leadership organizing, planning, and executing projects from conceptualization through implementation, across multiple internal and external reporting and organizational lines.
Proven ability to perform under stress and to adjust plans to meet changing requirements.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Highly organized and detail-oriented.
Excellent general project management and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated ability to motivate individuals yet retain the capacity to personally produce quality materials within tight timetables, across several simultaneous projects at various stages.
Ability to stay current on relevant technical accounting issues, research, and reach well-reasoned conclusions.
Experience with Yardi is a plus.
