JOB DESCRIPTION

This Hardware Engineering Manager will lead a team of 6 and growing technically adept Senior Engineers, FPGA, HF Communications, PCB Designer, RF Engineer and our Technician to solve complex engineering problems within projects. This team supports all aspects of RF system design, integration, and test using a wide range of electronic assembly products and test equipment.


An ideal candidate will have a proven ability to manage engineers/technicians of varying levels of experience and can successfully communicate instructions to help the team reach its goals. The Hardware Engineering Manager will display the skills, experience, and industry knowledge necessary to address a wide array of design challenges to ultimately enhance the companys product offerings. The position will also answer technical questions, prepare reports on the progress of all projects, train new employees, propose budgets for projects, and interact effectively with other teams.

Our company is a high growth incentive based company looking for a motivated Hardware Engineering Manager to lead the RF system level design engineering, integration, and test of pioneering products. The Hardware Engineering Manager reports to the CEO, and will work with the Program Managers, Principal Investigators and the lead electrical engineers in order to coordinate and support the day-to-day activities of the RF engineering team and will also act as a technical lead, technical contributor, or technical consultant on various projects. The Hardware Engineering Manager will also focus attention on the career development needs of the team members.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor`s degree in Electrical Engineering with 10 years of experience.
Master`s degree in Electrical Engineering with 7+ years of experience preferred.

This is a direct hire and is a full-time, salaried position (M-F, 40 hrs/week with occasional overtime). It requires daily, on-site work. Please be advised that due to our work with government contracts, all employees must be US citizens. This position may require occasional business-related travel.

DUTIES

Work with the electrical engineering leads and other electrical engineering managers to help oversee the supervision of engineering activity and work products, workload management, and performance management process.

Work with program managers and engineering leads to ensure the right people, processes, and tools are in place to meet the business needs.

Function as a key contributor, managing assigned responsibilities and directing the work of the leads and engineers to accomplish goals.

Plan manpower requirements as well as conduct quarterly and annual performance reviews of staff.

Identify, manage and grow the critical skills development process for the design team.

Motivates team; actively, effectively participates and contributes in a positive manner.

Train and mentor early career engineers in RF Engineering and test standards.

Makes an extra effort to provide quality internal and external customer service.

Work with the engineering team to identify causes of problems and develop solutions.

Evaluating and implementing Lean/agile solutions to decrease cycle times.

Identify and/or lead continuous improvement activities within the group.

SKILLS NEEDED

Understanding and application of the business unit electrical engineering and RF engineering technical standards. Includes understanding of RF systems hardware requirements: transmitters, receivers, antennas, filters, couplers, combiners, triplexers, FPGAs, microcontrollers, board level design etc..

Experience as technical manager, lead, or other similar leadership role with team building, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Experience working on space systems/launch vehicles is a plus.

Broad technical understanding and working knowledge of other related disciplines. Examples: mechanical engineering (interfaces/thermal requirements), software engineering (hardware firmware/programming)

Strong technical writing skills

Understanding of system level RF engineering with the ability to learn detailed analysis, design and test.

Ability to use software/analysis tools such as well as others developed with Python or MATLAB in support of RF system level design and analysis.

Perform data analysis to identify trends in system performance or processes that may indicate poor performance or degradation and then suggest methods to intercept and mitigate the degradation.

Strong leadership, influence, and people management skills

Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with an ability to effectively communicate to all levels of employees, management and customers

Ability to make independent decisions, be self-motivated, possess excellent communications skills, detail-oriented, and team player

Demonstrated effectiveness in managing internal relationships, prioritization, and delegation

Education:
University - Bachelor`s Degree/3-4 Year Degree
