My client is a small division in a much larger academic organization. Their focus is R&D involving on the most advanced high performance computation applications for DARPA. Candidates will likely get a clearance which will add great financial value in addition to the prestige of working on DARPA projects.

JOB DESCRIPTION

My client seeks talented researchers to lead and impact state-of-the-art research and development in the area of reconfigurable computing. This group is a pioneer of research related to field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs) including architecture, tools, applications, hardware trust, and security. It works closely with leading agencies such as DARPA, IARPA, and NASA where reconfigurable computing is a critical technology. Spanning the days of homogeneous logic devices to todays billion transistor system on a chip devices, RCG has led the way from being the first to implement application-level partial runtime reconfiguration, investigating 3D FPGA architectures, developing autonomous system on chip architectures, releasing open source CAD tools that target real physical devices, and IP to address software/hardware co-design complexity.

QUALIFICATIONS

PhD or equivalent experience in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering with experience in FPGA/ASIC security.

Previous publication, patents, or other displays of innovation in hardware specific security required.

Expert level knowledge of hardware security fundamentals and analysis (life cycle modeling, attack chains, hardware development flows, multi-level security, system evaluation).

Strong background and experience in VLSI, reliability, fault tolerance, 3D ICs, hardware trust, or hardware security required.

5 years of strong experience in in Verilog/VHDL/C programming for FPGAs/ASICs required.

Ability to address security threats and solutions at multiple abstraction levels, including circuits, hardware micro-architecture, firmware, and platform-specific software.

Experience developing appropriate countermeasures against implementation attacks with a focus on the trade-off between system performance, system cost, and system security.

Experience with FIB, EM probing, and other failure analysis techniques a plus.

Experience developing design tools for secure embedded FPGA hardware and software a significant plus

Experience addressing security concerns for wireless and other applications of embedded systems a plus

Familiar with Xilinx or Altera implementation tools.

Problem solving experience in a multidisciplinary environment with engineers and scientists.

Experience leading or contributing to proposals a significant plus.
