Ensure accuracy of STAT and GAAP accounting and reporting. Prepare analyses during the month end close process, complete tasks associated with the Companys quarterly and annual statutory and GAAP reporting requirements. Ensure accuracy of information reported to rating agencies. Research accounting guidance when new transactions arise, or when new guidance is issued. Complete special projects for the department.
Ensure accuracy of STAT and GAAP accounting and reporting
Prepare various analytical reports and any assigned journal entries during the monthly close process to ensure accuracy of STAT and GAAP reporting on a monthly basis. Review resulting monthly financial statements for reasonableness and accuracy.
Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual statutory filings, through preparation and review of various reports and filings.
Prepare assigned schedules required for the annual statutory filing and audited financial statements, and prepare other information or schedules required for GAAP annual reporting. Review annual filings for proper inclusion of required disclosures.
Research US STAT/GAAP and Canadian accounting principles.
Stay informed of industry issues through participation in quarterly PCI Accounting Sub-Committee conference calls, represent Company at annual PCI meeting if needed and summarize discussions
Assist in the preparation of the capital model projections.
Ensure accuracy of information reported to rating agencies (AM Best, S&P)
Complete surveys and other reports required by rating agencies and review resulting reports issued by rating agencies for accuracy.
Assist with the calculation of the Business Development bonus calculation, completed semi-annually, if needed.
Coordinate statutory financial examinations.
Coordinate monthly and quarterly SOX compliance documentation.
Assist with the completion of capital model impacts of new business opportunities, as needed.
Must maintain consistent and predictable attendance.
Complete special projects for the department and/or participate in special committee meetings, as needed QUALIFICATIONS
Four year Bachelors degree in Accounting
2 5 years of experience in insurance industry or pertinent experience
Minimum 2 years Big Four Public Accounting experience
CPA designation is a plus
MBA a plus
PeopleSoft experience a plus
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint
Good communication and leadership skills
Self-starter with ability to work independently
Able to prioritize tasks and complete duties within a specified time frame
Able to multi-task
Detail oriented and organized
University - Bachelor`s Degree/3-4 Year Degree
