WHY IS THIS A GREAT OPPORTUNITY?

We are hiring a Category Manager for our solar client. This opportunity may be based either in San Francisco, CA or Sacramento, CA. Reports to Director of Strategic Sourcing, and is responsible for developing supplier landscape for inverters.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Here is what you will be doing as part of the team:

  • Understand business, technology and code requirements for PV inverters (Residential and Commercial Solar Systems)
  • Develop and analyze the supplier landscape for String Inverters, Power Optimizers, Microinverter; Off-Grid; Battery and Commercial Inverter and emerging technologies; identify key suppliers
  • Create and regularly update Cost-Value Analysis for main suppliers. Evaluate suppliers and product capabilities, including technology, quality, operational and finance aspects
  • Develop and propose sourcing and negotiation strategies
  • Lead RFQ process, quotation analysis, contract negotiation and contract award to achieve company goals
  • Manage existing contracts, changes, amendments and dispute resolution
  • Work with stakeholders to scorecard suppliers as part of Supplier Relationship Management
  • Constantly monitor financial and operational health of suppliers
  • Prepare and lead the Quarterly Business Reviews involve other departments as needed
  • Create strategies, approach, and deployment for supplier quality programs and initiatives. Including risk identification and mitigation efforts
  • Build a Supplier Management Process with appropriate reviews/controls to become sustainable across the organization
  • Drive cost, technology and value improvements with suppliers across the Supply Chain
  • Up to 30% travel may be required

And here is what you will need to be successful:

  • Excellent knowledge of purchasing principles and practices
  • Strong knowledge of Residential Inverter landscape and technologies including Inverter architecture and inverter components
  • Good understanding of PV markets in general and excellent network within the industry
  • Strong knowledge of code and regulatory requirements (NEC, Rule 21, HECO regulation)
  • Good understanding of adjacent technologies Monitoring, Energy Storage, Home Energy Management
  • Negotiation skills; proven in an international environment (US / Europe / Asia)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation and organizational abilities
  • Ability to make decisions and resolve problems in a timely manner
  • Excellent analytical and teamwork skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills. Ability to present complex issues and solutions clearly and concisely and to communicate requirements and constraints related to technical and data analysis
  • Strong interpersonal skills to ensure effective communication with different stakeholders
  • Strong experience to solve issues in an international environment (Asia, Europe and Americas)
  • Ability to interact with colleagues at various levels of management and influence decisions
  • Proven ability to manage difficult projects from start to finish
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks concurrently
  • Self-starter with a high level of dedication who can work effectively on an individual and team basis
  • Advanced MS Excel, PowerPoint, Oracle Business Intelligence (BI) and Salesforce skills
QUALIFICATIONS

Requirement include......

  • Electro technical degree and strong business acumen (Electrical or Engineering degree is not necessary)
  • Minimum 5 years procurement and strategic sourcing skills and experience with an international supplier base
  • CPSM, CPM, CPIM or other related procurement/supply chain certifications
  • Six Sigma or process improvement skills
  • Inverter experience
  • PCB
  • String, micro, inverter experience.
  • Technology knowledge of inverter manufacturer, pricing, inverter sales people do not know as much as our inverter manager needs to know.
  • Inverter technical component knowledge,
  • Fail rate of inverters, specs, drive the sales people with inverter knowledge.
  • Needs negotiation experiences
  • Depth of knowledge of inverters
  • PCB manufacturing process

MOST IMPORTANT:

1. in depth inverter technologies - optimizer, string, Technology requirement, communications

2. Negotiation experience - multi million dollar deals - Driving cost savings within multi million dollar deals

3. Inverter Technology understanding residential solar only
