The Junior Research Scientist will operate and troubleshoot a variety of lab scale and analytical equipment with minimal supervision. He or she also sets up experimental apparatuses and performs bench-top experiments, frequently interpreting the results and reporting them to Senior Engineers/Scientists.
The candidate maintains the lab equipment and area of responsibility in a safe, clean, and orderly manner. He or she demonstrates a strong commitment to Health, Safety and Environmental policies and procedures. (~ 20%)
This candidate independently carries out varied non-routine engineering/technical assignments under limited supervision. He or she trains and supervises other technicians in performing routine analytical/technical tasks. He or she independently operates and troubleshoots a variety of pilot scale equipment of significant complexity including cast/blown film extruders. Independently sets up new experimental apparatuses, performs bench-top experiments and operates a variety of analytical equipments, including mechanical testing, rheology testing and others, also performs significant troubleshooting and method development. (~ 50%)
The candidate analyzes and interprets data from assorted analytical equipment; compiles data into the electronic format and spreadsheets. He or she communicates and reports results. He or she will be required to use significant independent judgement. He or she makes recommendations, which are reviewed by Senior Engineers/Scientists but are usually accepted as accurate and feasible. (~ 30%) QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum BS in Chemistry/Chemical Engineering/Material Science, or other relevant disciplines
- 3+ years of laboratory experience
- 5 or more years of processing and testing polymer products and applications
- Experience in industrial film extrusion, packaging application testing processes a plus and Highly preferred
- Experience of best candidate will demonstrate the experience and ability to work both independently with minimum supervision, as well as in team environments
University - Bachelor`s Degree/3-4 Year Degree
