JOB DESCRIPTION

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading and directing the workforce in problem identification, problem solving and implementing continuous improvement measures
  • Engaging team leaders and employees to improve department/area processes and performance
  • Managing overall performance of all process equipment (adherence to standard work, attendance, safety, code of conduct, etc.) to achieve expected standards in the areas of Safety, Quality, Delivery, Productivity and Cost
  • Interviewing, selecting and providing training for team leaders and employees
  • Creating a work environment conducive to employee morale and motivating to accomplish performance objectives
  • Managing performance including setting/adjusting pay rates, rewarding/recognizing, and disciplining
  • Communicating with team leaders on a daily basis and making decisions on issues related to productivity
  • Communicating daily with other shifts and peers regarding safety, quality, productivity, staffing, equipment, continuous improvement activities
  • First point of contact for team leaders in escalating process of problems/concerns
  • Communicating A6 Operating System principles to employees to improve their understanding and execution
  • Communicating/conducting performance appraisals, both formal and informal
  • Responsible for driving the creation and improvement of standardized work
  • Auditing team leaders standardized work to ensure adherence to standard processes and procedures
  • Make departmental decisions around waiving or deviating established procedures, taking into account any and all safety, environmental, or operational protocols and requirements
  • Conducting training and auditing standardized work
  • Establishing and sharing best-in-class manufacturing processes
  • Responsible for leading and executing the 5S activities to maintain the area to standard
  • Driving a continuous improvement culture by instilling Plan, Do, Check, Act methodology
  • Constantly searching for improvement and continually seek to eliminate waste
  • Evaluating, addressing and supporting employee suggestions and ideas for continuous improvement
  • Practicing rapid-problem solving processes to ensure corrective action at the appropriate level
  • Executing the escalation process, as appropriate
  • Responsible for the safe and proper management and handling of hazardous and non-hazardous waste in compliance with plant requirements
QUALIFICATIONS

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 5+years of operations experience in an industrial environment.
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience


Additional Qualifications:

  • Associates or Bachelors in a technical field is preferred
  • Experience working in a 24/7 operation preferred
  • Knowledge of and experience working in chemical process operations preferred
  • Experience leading a unionized environment preferred
  • Strong commitment to safety
  • Computer proficiency in SAP/RF, Kronos and Microsoft Office
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated mechanical and electrical aptitude
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate others to achieve safety and productivity goals
  • Demonstrated conflict resolution skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a unionized environment
  • Demonstrated ability to initiate and implement change

Education:
University - Associate`s Degree/Graduate Diploma/2 Years
