Global agricultural leader is searching for expert, highly technically skilled Plant Breeders to be involved in developing competitive inbreds for the desired target markets to produce superior performing hybrids while meeting production standards. Extensive team interaction with Regional Breeding Project Leads to share results and produce new and innovative pipelines for commercial sales. JOB DESCRIPTION
--- Plan, evaluate and implement marker-assisted breeding (MAB), double haploid (DH) and other breeding tools and technologies as appropriate.
--- Utilize technology integration in germplasm improvement projects and product development processes.
--- Plan breeding crosses and tester selection.
--- Allocate nursery, topcross and replicated yield trial resources.
--- Maintain a thorough understanding of available germplasm and product performance/ needs within the target maturity/ markets.
--- Participate in plot tours and advancement meetings as needed/required.
--- Facilitate exchange of germplasm and information within the global corn network.
--- Assist Breeding Project Leads (Hybrids), Product Evaluation Leads and Product Managers with decisions on conversions and product advancement and placement.
--- Work with Trialing Managers to provide feedback that allows for continuous improvement in plot quality and testing efficiency.
--- PhD or MS Agriculture or Science degree with 3+ years experience in plant breeding, preferably corn or hybrid crops, and germplasm.
--- Demonstrated commercial breeding success.
--- Extensive knowledge of marker applications to breeding is required.
--- Must have knowledge of breeding theory (genetics, statistics, genetic gain theory and field plot technique).
--- Travel - 20%, Extensive travel by car and occasional air travel (e.g., winter nursery, meetings).
--- Applicants must be able to work in the US without visa sponsorship now or in the future.
