JOB PURPOSE

Lead capital project execution for site projects at the Beaumont Site (including design, procurement, and construction) to ensure assigned projects meet company objectives and ensure the job is carried out in full compliance with all Safety, Security, Health, Environmental and Corporate Governance requirements.

Drive continuous improvement in Project Excellence through the development of a high performing team.

Average # of projects 20-30 per year

Range of project sizes $10K - $2MM

Number of plants supported (4) HCN, Monomers, MAA, Site Services

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Ensure that capital projects are designed, constructed and commissioned in full compliance with all applicable company (internal) and Regulatory (external) EHS requirements.
  • Develop execution strategy for assigned projects to ensure project scope and timing aligns with plant needs and expectations
  • Prepare Capital Project documents and financial sanctions to ensure project meets or exceeds Project Excellence PEx requirements (including the following types of documents)
  • Basic Data packages
  • Chemical Plant Heat and Material Balance
  • Utility consumption
  • Piping and Instrument Diagrams
  • Process Hazards Reviews
  • Ensure management of change (MOC) documentation related to assigned projects and PCRs meet site and corporate MOC requirements.
  • Manage (and report) project cash flow to ensure spending adheres to project budget constraints and delegation of authority requirements.

SPECIAL FEATURES

This position is integrally involved in the site management of change (MOC) process, and must take ownership of all assignments related the MOCs (be it MOC originator, reviewer, or assigned action).

The site is a complex, high hazard facility and as such is highly regulated by external authorities and requires extremely high standards from leadership particularly with respect to process safety.

Project Management Professional PMP certification a plus

KNOWLEDGE/ EXPERIENCE/SKILLS

  • B. S. Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical Engineer (or equivalent) with 5+ Years previous capital planning (or portfolio management) and project management experience
  • Strong leadership capabilities and communication skills (both verbal and written). Must be able to communicate effectively at all levels in the organization.
