JOB DESCRIPTION

This position requires experience in IoT (Internet of Things), LoRa, cellular telephony, IP networking, and LED lighting. It is a remote position requiring up to 60% travel (nationwide and international). You must currently live in California, Arizona, Denver or Chicago to be considered for this position.

The Field Service Engineer (FSE) will provide technical support for Proof of Concept deployments, initial installations, and final installation acceptance. Additionally, you will support Sales meetings with the Regional Sales Manager.

This position will require a technical understanding of the company`s product line to facilitate installation, operational debugging, training of end customer support and installation teams, and communicating with the product team on deficiencies.

Responsible for performing customer support activities involving the installation, modification, and repair of complex equipment and systems under limited supervision. Conducts on-site installation and testing of equipment to ensure proper working order. Isolates equipment start-up malfunctions and takes corrective action. Performs predetermined work assignments with instructions. Follows established guidelines, procedures and policies. Works on assignments are semi-routine in nature where ability to recognize deviation from accepted practice is required. Prepares daily logs and reports work performed.

Essential Responsibilities:

Install, test, operate, maintain, repair, and upgrade equipment within time requirements established by service management.
Provide preventative maintenance in accordance with published procedures. Keep performance and maintenance records on the equipment.
Provide guidance and training to customer personnel in establishing operation, maintenance, inspection procedures, and techniques.
Analyze equipment failures to determine cause and recommend corrective action.
Advise and assist in effecting design changes to improve equipment efficiency and/or reduce cost of operations.
Maintain customer good will through: effective communication of all services rendered; on-site arrival time; First Time Fix rate; PM Compliance; service and operator issues; effective presentation of a positive attitude for the company, products, employees, and customers; and maintaining a proper business appearance as defined by service management.
Effectively manage company assets to include company vehicle, computer, trunk stock parts inventory, test equipment and tools.
Make travel arrangements daily or weekly basis
Be capable of traveling at a moment notice weekday or weekend
Carry mechanical and electrical tools from job to job, including laptop and test equipment
Discuss objectives with the customer when on-site
Modify, adjust, or develop application code
Mark-up drawings (Red Line) with any updates or changes as required
Communicate issues, successes, and delays with the Customer, Project Manager, team members and regional management daily.
Participate in a closeout meeting with the Customer at completion of each assignment
Write a detailed daily / weekly report for each job location and send to office.
Complete a weekly electronic expense report and send on the receipts to the office.
Send all copies of programs, redline drawings, and weekly reports to the office for proper archival at completion of job.
As necessary, FSE will assist with the field training of new employees and may receive in-house assignments covering technical support, training, or documentation.

QUALIFICATIONS


Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Computers or Electronics
Thorough understanding of RF signals to include Narrowband IoT (NB-IoT), LoRa, and Lite M (Cat-M1)
Experience with mobile networks similar to AT&T, T-Mobile, and regional providers.
Experience with different IoT (Internet of Things) devices.
Experience in network architectures for Smart City designs
1-3 years experience in a service-repair field
Microsoft Office experience
Customer service focused with strong problem-solving skills
Possess good verbal and written communication skills
Independent thinker; strong problem solver; detail oriented
Ability and willingness to travel up to 60% including international
Willingness to work up to and over 8 hours/day and work > 40 hours/week, weekends and after-hours; occasional overnight travel.

University - Bachelor`s Degree/3-4 Year Degree
