Summary of Benefits:

General Description of Position and Summary of Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Full time Sociology Faculty. The individual hired will be responsible for teaching courses such as General Sociology, Social Problems, Marriage and Family, and others as needed in both traditional and on-line settings.

Specific duties: Responsibilities include teaching 15 load hours each semester (Fall and Spring), holding 10 on-campus office hours each week, serving on department and college wide committees, and completing other duties as assigned by the department. Must be able to teach courses including General Sociology, Social Problems, and Marriage and Family. Will conduct successful classes in a variety of formats; including traditional, on-line, and hybrid.

SALARY: Faculty Scale dependent on education and experience. This is a full-time position with benefits.

Required Qualifications:

Masters Degree in Sociology is required. Experience with college-level teaching experience is required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Applicants should be committed to the learning college philosophy as well as the goals and objectives of NorthWest Arkansas Community College. Applicants should have a history of dedication to quality teaching and student success. Must be familiar with, or willing to learn, Blackboard 9.1.


Preferred Qualifications:

PhD in Sociology is preferred. Teaching experience at a community college is preferred.
Applicant should be willing to apply innovative approaches to teaching, with an emphasis on technology, and have strong oral and written communication skills. Experience teaching classes via distance learning is preferred. Ability to contribute to our Child Advocacy Studies curriculum a plus.

Hours may vary and may require evenings and weekends.
